Terrible FPS lag on perfect hardware?

Post by cheesus182 »

Hey guys.
Today im having insane FPS lag.
As soon as I look at smoke or more than 1 vehicle at a time my FPS drops to between 20 and 6.
Usually its at 100fps at bascially all times.
Maybe when in a very smoked up area I might get 80 fps but never less!
Just came out of no where.
Restarted my game and PC already several times but nothing will make it work.
I have been playing with friends and theirs runs fine so its my problem
But how do I fix it?

System specs:

i7 920 @ 2.66GHZ
ATI Radeon HD 5850
6GB DDR3 RAM

And thats all you need I would believe.
I have my BF settings to high and on low they lag a little less but still I do not see why I should have to adapt to this!

Also just tried playing Crysis 2 at max setting with V-Sync, 60fps.

Try deleting the BF2 Cache files, also have you got webroot internet security?

To delete cache files:
Go to Mydocs> BF2>mods>bf2>cache
and delete the folders in there.

IN the ATI CCC,
first off, save your current settings in a Preset.

Then set all of your advanced options to default.

Start up PR and see if that fixes it.

BF2 was never meant to go thru the punishment that the PR team has pushed the engine towards

;) The PR team just has to optimize their mod more, which they've been talking about doing a lot for .96.

We all get that.

i7 2600k, HD4890 1gig, and 8 gig DDR3 1333

=/ if you're averaginga bout 100 and getting random "lag" spikes, then yeah.. it's just the BF2 engine sucking.

xD
