Hi all and whining thread.

Post by AvarageUsername »

Hi, everybody!

This is the first time I am writing in the forum although I have been lurking around it for a year or so. As for my PR "background", I used to play with one of the early builts, but really started to play the mod 1-2 years ago. Most of the time I play as rifleman which I like to be, but sometimes I try out other things.

This will be a rather pointless thread about negative stories I had experienced recently so if you are not intrested I suggest you to stop reading now, the reason I am writing this is, that stories like these start to really make the game less fun for me.

Today on Kashan I get in a trans-heli at the beginning of the game and ask the pilot to take me to North Bunker where my SL ordered me to go. The pilot tells me that he won't take me there, because it not yet capped and proceeds to carrying me to south village. I ask him repeatadly to bring me to the location I asked, he doesn't care. When we get to SV I don't get out as I am better of hitching a ride from the base from somewhere else than make the SL wait 15 minutes for me to get where he wants me. The pilot is telling me to get out then he get out himself of the chopper just to be blasted away by a tank 5 seconds later as he tries to restart the chopper when he gets back. A moment later I see in TEAM chat that he says I have costed a trans-heli for the team and that I must leave the chopper when he says so.

Yesterday I was playing on Operation Barracuda on a deserted server, I join a squad that is located in every corner of the map, noone talks a word while I am there so I decide to take an AA and hide at the end of Airstrip shooting incoming choppers (I destroyed the attack Huey and helped another AA to hit a trans-heli). While I am sitting there I notice that Airstrip is taken over, but decided to stay there, because I am more valuable to the team as an AA hidden there. SL comes over and tells me to go south to airstip, I tell him that I'd rather stay there to which he comments immidiately "then make your own N00b AA squad" and then proceeds to yell at me in similar tone, only then it turns out that the rest of the squad (which is still all around the map) was communicating through private voip.

On Kokan as insurgernt I take AA on known cache and hit a Black Hawk over the compund, the chopper continued to fly then supposedly crashed back at base. A moment later I am asked to "NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!!!!" I ask what should I not do, then it turns out they thought I fired into the US base, I keep on explaining them with details that where I was and where the chopper was when it hit. The conclusion was along the lines of 'ok don't want to talk about it anymore don't do it again "

I take sniper (I know, despicable) on Qwai because I can't get into any decent INF squad, although I am far from being good with that kit (I did once fired a guy from a moving Jeep though which I was proud of) I tried to help my team the best I could with enemy positions and fire support. Anyway I got shot at one point and had to watch as the medic near me refuses to get me up, because I had a sniper kit. Mind you they may get the idea that I am aware of the fact that being a sniper is not accepted (which is stupid IMHO) as I named my squad L33TSNIPORZ.

Ok, so where I was getting with this pointless wall of text? We have a lot of players that are somewhat experienced, but taken up a self-important/know it all attitude that alienates other players and just hurt the game. It's no surprise that more and more often I find that squads are unorganized as players don't want to spend their time listening to one of these idiots, unfortunately this destroys the whole purpose of the game and turns it into a mindless shooting game.

It may be that I was just lucky that I didn't expericence incidents like this earlier, but I feel like a new "generation" of players arrived who have a very different idea about having fun than the people I started to play with.

Oh and LOL at me for making a typo in my nickname :)

I can relate to you bro. There are a few players that think they are Gods gift to PR and refuse to listen to other players. I ignore them and they will usually rage quit after they fail hard a few times. If your helping the team, just continue to play and ignore the idiots.

There are no tanks and/or villiges in Mutrah.

Also, on the Op. Barracuda scenario, if your squad leader decides to start giving orders, you should take them. "I'd prefer to stay here" is not acceptable.

What happened to the good ol' players...

I was playing Fallujah. My squad was scouting around and we suddenly see a Gary leaving the Insurgent main. We immediately fire as soon as he was engageable (just outside the actual concrete wall).

Admins got mad on the other side. I see the text, I order my squad to turn around while my CO tells me "Get the hell out of there..." He later minimized the incident with the other team, so we went on to play the game as it was made to (whole team moves under CO's orders). No one got into trouble and that was forgotten.

Ahh, the good players!

LOL, he was just trying to prove his point. He probably meant Kashan Desert on the MEC side...

I hope I'm wrong, though, because asking to go to NV if SV is in play is weird haha.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Just got C4'd on NwA with a full chopper off the deck. No admins on. Server crashed 10 seconds afterwards.

Use mumble. Join a clan. Play with them.

Hatin alone, is cold. Hatin with others, is like a furnace try it out. Ragers gotta rage.

Also, PR is all about communication, if you wish to participate in gaming. And your experiences relate to certain people failing at their roles, then attempt to replicate their role, and replace them. So to make it under your control.

Maybe a fresh start for you to see things from another angle!

In other news, Mr Lurker. Welcome to the forums.

Introduce yourself in the offtopic forum, post your face, and try the mods pancakes, i heard they are delicious.

Don't taste the pancakes. Taste the blue waffles.

And yeah, welcome to the forums!

And don't worry about clans... They are not necessarily the best way. I myself never joined a clan because I didn't want to have any obligations when playing the game other than playing the game right ;)

If you wish, check out the # tag in my signature. I don't think many people still use it (at least compared to the debut month), but I still like when I see that kind of guy in my squad ;)

It was Kashan, sorry for the mix-up, as for Barracuda it wasn't that I denied the order and told him to f off. I just asked him if he would let me stay there and move in other guys from the squad.

Thanks for the nice welcome!

I use mumble on mumble servers, it can be great (and awful when we get a very talkative guy unlinked)
As for Clans, PR has the habit of losing the connection quite often when I am playing so maybe it's better to not be a burden for a clan depending on me.

whats your internet speed and are you using wi-fi?
also comp specs can be a factor
not necessarily PR fault

from reading that I feel like the sniper thing you kind of brought on yourself by calling it leetsniporz people hate snipers in this game although medic must have been a **** because he should still rev you

and as for the chopper part you shoudnt risk assets so that one chopper would give you a ride to a hot location still though if I was that pilot I would explain that to you or at the very least try to get you in as close as possible

hating smurf medics ? think on this, you died yes ? you got shot yes ? so if a medic goes to your position he might get shot yes ? remember you died he's alive and as such he has 100% more situational awareness than you.

might well have been nothing to do with your silly squad name.

@ Deviant, dont play on un-admin'd UK server late at night then? and thanks for mentioning our server, perhaps instead you could bring your self to come to our web site make a complaint in our forums and we will deal with it there ?

ho hum

Well the sniper thing I really named my squad that to show that I am aware that sniping is mostly frowned upon and as somewhat of an inside joke.

As for the heli: I think the way it works normally is that you ask for a location and the pilot decides if it's safe to land there. If he thinks it's not then he takes you to the closest safe destination. The heli-pilot is not in the chain-of-command (CO/SL/NCO) so he shouldn't decide whether I want to go to the bunkers or to south-village, on the other hand I, as a passenger have no word in deciding where is it safe to land.

About connection-losses: I am sure it's my computer, I think it might be a memory issue. What happens is that it freezes all of a sudden, (the whole computer, I still see what I last saw ingame +sound is stuck) stays that way for a minute or two then it get unstuck, but by that time it says I lose connection to the server. I use wi-fi, but it was a problem before that too. My netspeed is 30M so that shouldn't be a problem.

I don't hate smurf medics, I get up alot of people from other squads when it's safe when I am medic. We were actually talking in teamchat with the medic and the squad he was in and it all happened after a firefight ended and everyone was regrouping. He actually said that he will not get me up because I have a sniper kit.

I see more and more of this, SL not playing the game srsly or people just trying to find bugs and other things..

I see more and more lonely guys in PR too. And it's crazy how being a lonewolf with a freaking RKG can do a lot of damage. Now FOB don't last 2 mins...I remember FOBs in 0.85..like in Al kufrah or Ejod, they were lasting whole games..

Whether to the OP or a few here - years of this mod and only recently you have been feeling the unpleasantness of ********? Everyone was friendly and teamwork oriented back then? No personality clashes or mood swings?
Amazing.

What servers you usually play in AverageUsername?

I don't know if other servers are experiencing it at the moment, but we have had a large influx of new to pr players recently which is causing a higher than normal rage amongst the rest of the player base as the newbs are broken in.

My advice is communicaiton, voip, mumble, team chat whatever are your friends. Whilst most of the team see a lone spot on the map, if you communicate what your intent is - people will be more forgiving. As I said somewhere else though - people tend to over complicate this game - AAS - the role is to defend and cap flags in play. What often occurs is that squads are all secret squirrel up in A1 leaving it to one or two squads to defend. They of course get overrun by a coordinated assault of 32 players.. They naturally rage at the Special Forces squads doin' their thing....

TLDR: don't be a secret squirrel - make sure your objectives are clearly articulated to the SQL / Team and you'll find people raging less at you.

Your story reads like a series of unfortunate events tho

"DON"T SHOOT, we're trying to be stealthy you idiot you gave us away!" was what i had to deal with repeatedly about a month ago, the idiot SL didnt realize that not shooting doesn't work if the enemy has already spotted you and are in fact shooting at you. I repeatedly reported enemy which had spotted him and were moving into firing positions and each time he told me not to shoot and getting himself killed then raging at us for firing back afterwards. hell at one point our entire squad got mowed down by a PKM and still he said "dont shoot! dont shoot! oh great now were all dead great job guys." he ahd the gall to say that to me and one otherguy who realized we were being shot at, fired back and were the only two that survived that.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.
