Suggestions?

Post by badmojo420 »

Does anyone else feel like the new suggestion section restrictions (having new threads approved by mods/devs) have killed that section of the forums?

I used to spend most of my time in that section. Now I don't even bother checking it, because there hasn't been ANYTHING of interest for weeks.

Are the devs/mods now deciding what suggestions are worth discussing? It was my understanding that the new system was to avoid the new members from resuggesting things that have been suggested a million times. But, it seems like they won't approve any threads that don't instantly interest them.

Of course they're free to do whatever they please, I just feel like that section was a big part of why I loved the PR community. And I'm a little disappointed to see it fade away.

I'd agree with that.

On a related note, I'd like to say that I don't see any point in the removal of the community faction pages for released armies (Germany and Canada, for example). If anything, this reduces community productivity for those factions.

Maybe nothing interesting is being suggested?

Alot of the "great" ideas prolly arent given release to the public, since its not only the "PUBLIC" that watches these forums.

Any new mod that comes out has in it the potential to change the gaming industry, thus the big companies are prolly watching this forum closely.

Also resuggestions are always bad :P

I can remember fast ropes being suggests 5 times in a week. Oh those days.

But alot of us play PR, ingame we think about it, maybe give it a quick talk with the rest of the squad. ALT+F4

Indeed that is pretty much the case. Here are the suggestions for the past week:
  1. [Mumble] Shout button - Basically asking for a mumble button that transmits louder than the current button, not possible afaik and even if it was, could be exploited and can be archived already by shouting :p
  2. M777 Howitzer - basically asking for this to replace deployable mortars, do I need to explain this one?
  3. New Mode - Asked for an "Insurgent vs Insurgent game mode with no more text other than that...
  4. Possible idea for shooting with a bayonet attached? - Re-suggestion and not possible, if it was we would have done it.
  5. Add top to the fox hole. - Think the mods missed this one but still, not that interesting but I've approved it anyways to see if we can get some good discussion going on it.

The fact is with the new system, less people are suggesting and with it, less re-suggestions are being made since people are getting the message more, dunno if its really affected the good suggestions being made much thou?

You guys may have a point thou that we are not looking out for approving good suggestions in there thou but that's probably down to people getting board of shifting though all the bad ones still going in there :p

EDIT: Almost forgot to reply to this point:

When a community faction is integrated into a mod, all the relevant people working on that faction who are not already part of the team are integrated into the team (although by that point, very few if any are not already on the team) and as such, any future work they are planning on still doing is then done within the PR team just like the British and American factions etc.

Any community members can still working any item they like for factions, including originally community made ones from outside of the team and many do, including you ShockUnit with you working on that PLA APC, just there is no longer any need for the community to be directly involved with the same aspects once the faction is integrated into the mod.
