VOIP auto-disables
Hi, i've been having this problem and I feel it's really been messing with my ability to communicate. Basically when I try enabling VOIP in the options and fiddling with the volume controls, when I exit out of that screen (even after hitting "apply") it acts like I made no such changes and reverts back to off and volume zero.
I don't know if it does this in vanilla BF2. I'm running windows 7 and using the steam version of the game, and the rest of PR works just fine.

Are you using the G35 headset? Can you hear others in game?

Re: VOIP auto-disables
Hey,
I'm having the same problems as the OP and the person above me. I too am using WIN7 32 bit. PR works perfectly fine except VOIP which auto-disables itself even after I activate it through the menu. I tried going into BF2 and changing it there to see if that's causing it but the same thing happens in BF2 (auto-disables itself even after I change it).
I'm not using the Steam version of BF2. I tried changing headphones and changing it to speakers but no change.
Does anyone have a solution?
NOTE: For some reason, having Steam on makes Punkbuster kick me from PR servers so I play PR without steam on. I would love a solution for this also if anyone has any (:.

try applying VOIP in the settings then closing PR correctly. (not alt+F4) had a similar problem once and it wasnt fixed until i did this.

have you made sure that under sound options/communications that the 'Do Nothing' is selected?

It might be that some files became corrupted. You could either "Reset Defaults" or be more thorough and delete the "Battlefield 2" folder in "My Documents" (not "Program Files"!).
On next login the game will create those files from scratch, any corruption should be resolved.
Note that this will remove all your custom settings and you will have to reconfigure BF2 / PR again.

Tried it, still doesn't work. I enable it and it disables itself. Can it be a Win7 problem? My friend installed the game with the same CD yet he has XP and everything works perfectly.'[R-COM wrote:SnipingCoward;1621945']It might be that some files became corrupted. Any other solutions or troubleshoots I can try? Really want to play PR but playing without VOIP is just not fun and almost impossible.

Re: VOIP auto-disables
PR works pretty much with XP and Win7 alike. Since it seems to be somewhat rare I would also think that it might be your specific installtion of windows.
You could try to force the voip setting by manually editing "audio.con" in your profile's folder. Set the value for VOIP and then make it write protected. But I somewhat doubt that it is going to help.
Also this might be some interference with another program (VOIP client like TS, Skype or Mumble). Try with disabling other programs to check if they interfere with BF2.

I just have a new system build and after years of playing bf2 and poe2 and some bfbc2 last year i wanted to give PR a try before bf3 comes out.
Im shocked and surprised i didnt try this mod earlier cuz it looks way better then vanilla and also has a way better way of teamplay to accomplish objectives then just capturing flags left and right.
my Biggest problem i run up in the first hour of playing was that i COULDNT hear any of my squadmates. i saw their nicks poppin up t hat they were trying to say something but i simply couldnt hear them..
i tried several ways to fix it but none of them work. and i actually dont really wanna play this game without it.
what do you mean with try disabling them? cuz i dont have those programs open when i start PR? how can i disable them?

Re: VOIP auto-disables
By "disabling" I simply ment to turn them off when trying to play the game (i.e. closing it but making sure there is no remnant tray icon of the closed program left that indicates it is still working in the background).vodkash wrote:what do you mean with try disabling them? cuz i dont have those programs open when i start PR? how can i disable them?
Have you tried disabling "allow an application to take exclusive control" for your speakers/primary playback device, yet?
You should check the Audio options in BF2 / PR make sure "Voice Volume" "Receive" is all the way up. And Voice Over IP is ticked to enabled.
