Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
Happened on Mestia a time or two for me in .8, maybe .7ish
The militia APC. Its been an old bug for a bit, but I dont know if its ever really been pinned down to anything aside from "something to do with the APCs"
Would be nice to fix though... everyone kee posting info... :\

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
Me And Several Players had this exact problem, both with the APCs featured on Fools (Russia) and EJOD (MEC)
Almost like a repeat of Merlin lag, although it affects players who are near the vehicle aswell.

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
hey guys i have also encountered this problem
but there is also so time in lb's in karbal when fly close to the building's with a full squad (5+1 pilot), or it might be me but
the bradley's, the lav's are the one i have had problems with and not only see them but once i get out the fps lag is handicapping, i also get some binoc and optics lag with magnified sights, i pull it out then my gun dissapears and i get a black box and the scope gui's that come up (the gui is the screen that you see when zoomed ) same with binocs
i have noit played as the russian's enough but with them i get a casual lag arround apc not handi capping but annoying
i get 75 to 95 fps even in jets, helo's( usally, but some times i lag out )
but what annoys me the most is that it is only persistent in the Chicago server's
ops:, if a server crashes alotte they need an upgrade
it is not you're rig it's the server's rig, plus the internet confusion you can get a 5 fps lag at 26 ping

stop blaming the btr-60 but they should use the bmp anyways
WE GOT TO STOP OVERLOOKING THE FACT THAT PR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE.

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
Had the same problem. Was gunner in an APC on Fallujah West (the vanilla BF2 APC, dunno how it's called) and had perfect framerates for most of the time. But suddenly my framerate (usualy 90-100 FPS) dropped and capped at just around 14. My driver had no problems at all, it was only me.
Kinda annoying, since I dont want to restart my game all the time to be able to support my team in the APC again.

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
I get this odd FPS drop seemingly randomly. Latest time is on Muttra when driving a truck on MEC side...it does seem to happen more often when i am in a vehicle. I go from 100 FPS down to 0-5 and up to 30 and back down to a crawl. Someone asked for specs here's mine...has happened on 2 different rigs but latest is:
Intel 8400
Geforce 9800 GT
2 gig OCZ RAM
160gig velociraptor
p5QL pro mobo

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
sorry couldn't edit for some reason...to add, i am running vista 64...have tried on vista 32 also and encountered the same thing...I was forcing 1440x900 through shortcut and tried taking that out and same problem. I have had the problem in Fallujah also. The bad thing is that restarting my game doesn't fix anything.

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
Ok
What this apparently is, is the armor bug.
Many players have experienced that when the gunner and driver are along in their APC, out of nowhere they get massive FPS bleed. To fix it, the driver or gunner has to switch to every seat in the armor and go back to his original seat and its fixed.
If not, you have to abandon the gunner or driver position, leavign only one guy in there, and the FPS bleed will instantly stop.
ALso, a third fix is that a person has to come inside the APC with the driver and gunner in order for it to stop.
Apparently my entire squad felt this when it happened.
Odd thing is that it just happens out of nowhere after a while of driving.
I think its because of the transport.
WE transported my squad and as soon as they all got out we all had the lag. WHen my driver got out, i stayed in gunner, it stopped.
The fix comes from RJ Travis, from here. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... g-fix.html

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
OK, it's solved...for me at least. I noticed my hard faults/sec were really high...i alt-tabbed out of BF and pulled up resource monitor...over 100 as high as 150. Switched out my 2 gigs of ram for two double gig sticks and now i'm @ 100FPS almost constantly in Fallujah when it was nearly unplayable before...havent been able to try Muttrah yet but i'm sure its golden now. I guess 64bit V'sta needs more than 2 g's

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
PR can be quite resource hog, choppers shouldn't have too much FPS drop bugs anymore so, try to drop some settings, or try rising AA to x8. Sounds weird I know but it has been noted that x8 gives better performance than x4.
For APCs switching around in the other seats should help, or running away from the APC
But only if your not crewing it

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
This has only happened to me once. Occurred on Muttrah City when the MEC APC was around. It didn't mater if I was driving, gunning, or outside of it, my fps dropped to like 5. (its normally like 80-100, ive got an 8800GT). One other person in my squad reported having similar issues when it was around as well. Once that one got blown up I was completely fine even once we got a new APC.

I experienced the massive FPS drop once on Fallujah a while ago when I was walking around the back of an APC (can't recall if it was the Bradley or LAV).

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
Fallujah is the only map i experience this on and it might be because of this
Fallujah West
- Insurgency 16 & 64 - No mortars on either side
- suffers from lag for most low end users, needs optimization.
- Insurgency 16 & 64 - floating cache
even though my computer and your computer seems to be pretty beast, i think it still effects everyone

Yeh, my FPS dropped to 12, when a BTR-60 kept coming into view.

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
I would like to add to this thread.
I'm very new to PR, only started playing a few weeks back.
Last night I was playing Fallujah, or maybe it was Basra, I can't remember, as I said new to the game!
Its a map where the opposition has no vehicles except for cars, dirt bikes and suicide bomb cars. The US side only has two Humvee's, a supply truck, Two LAV's and Two Bradleys.
Every time I got in the gunners seat on the LAV or Bradley, with it moving my FPS would drop to 15, locked solid with no variation.
It was very awfull to aim as the view shudders across the screen.
As soon as the vehicle stood still for more than 5 seconds the FPS would fly back up to around 80 and everything was fine again, until the driver decided to move again, and it would die back down to 15.
On all other maps I have no problems at all. My FPS sit between 65-85 pretty much all the time.
Must be a bug or rendering issue that's eating GFX power?
Thanks,
Daniel.

thanks for the report, yea were still not sure what causes this weird frame loss, I too have experienced it occasionally and its usually on al basrah or west fallujah.
needs more thorough testing.

Re: Extremely Odd FPS Drop near APCs
Ya only happend to me once, on fallujah, I was gunning for the APC and all of the sudden I get some huge uncontrollable lag when ever my driver moves, so I got out and let someone else gun but even standing next to the apc at all when it moved made me lag to hell.
