What about the scoped weapons that don't have accomodations for backup ironsights? Looking at the G3 and the QBZ95.

what is the small hole in the scope mount that seem to align with the iron sights?[R-DEV]Chuc wrote:What about the scoped weapons that don't have accomodations for backup ironsights? Looking at the G3 and the QBZ95.

not sure about the qbz 95

maybe those rifles didn't care about the shooter being able to use some kind of iron sights as a back up if the scope fails? if not, they will keep their smoke as an advantage in the name of asymmetrical warfare i hear people talking about.

perhaps a 'off to the side' view of the scope would be appropriate, as the rifle is held ready, but the scope is not to the eye.[R-DEV]Chuc wrote:What about the scoped weapons that don't have accomodations for backup ironsights? Looking at the G3 and the QBZ95.

I don't like this idea.hiberNative wrote:my suggestion is to remove a smoke slot from the scoped assault rifle kits (and one of the colored smoke from the officer kit) and replace it with a weapon slot using the upper ironsights.
it's mostly medics and grenadiers that use smoke anyway, and the officer does not need 2 different colors. i can't remember when the smoke colors have made a tactical difference.
1. If you don't need/use smoke grenades then please don't take it away from others because there are many people who actually use it. It's the most useful (but underestimated by some people) tool.
2. Giving a backup ironsides for scopes will only make unscoped rifleman useless... it must be balanced somehow to avoid it.
3. Other conventional armies may not use backup ironsights, how it will be balanced? Even with asymmetrical balance there is still a balance between the armies (but asymmetrical).
4. The current system is better for the teamwork without the "universal rifleman" good for short and long ranges at the same time.
Backup ironsights on ACOG (and SUSAT?) are realistic, yes, that's a fact... but IMO not everything can be put in game just because it is realistic. Some things can't be put in game or removed because of the gameplay (or engine limitations), for example mobile artillery can't be put in game because maps are too small, spawning and reviving is not realistic but it cannot be removed because the gameplay will suffer, etc, etc.
BTW. I agree with you that officer kit doesn't need two colours of smoke
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!
Do not post stupid suggestions just because you had a bad round in PR

I think the unscoped rifleman is kinda redundant anyway. With the current kit-limitations, someone's gonna be LAT, Rifleman AT, Grenadier, etc. Scoped rifleman has ammo-bag and hand-grenades anyway - medics or specialists are generally more useful as a replacement with ironsights. ATM the M-16's TRB's a bit pants at CQB (Three-round-burst was introduced because the first three rounds of auto-fire tended to all be on target - does that sound like many CQBs you've had? The recoil should be a tad lower.) so given the weaker projectile compared to the G3/AKs, extra iron-sight mode for M-16 wouldn't strike me as majorly unbalanced.2. Giving a backup ironsides for scopes will only make unscoped rifleman useless... it must be balanced somehow to avoid it.
What do they do IRL? Why not introduce that? What about the scoped weapons that don't have accomodations for backup ironsights? Looking at the G3 and the QBZ95.

hiberNative I 100% agree with your suggestion and you should not be made to defend realism from this community in this thread that are bashing you over a smoke grenade that we have so many 75% more then is ever needed. +1

I'd rather remove ammo than the smoke. It would give the iron sights a more definite advantage if you want balance or watever.

How about instead of taking away the smoke grenades, take away the frag. Sounds fair, right?

Re: Remove smoke, add iron sight slot.
i have a suggestion to this suggestion....
how about ONLY giving this to riflemen, thereby upping the number of 'em in the field? so they'd get a new ACOG, while the others will keep the one they have today.
