Gulf Of Oman?
The sequel to my first thread about Jabal Al Burj, what happened to Gulf of Oman?
Also, what is the music in the suicide truck for? I'm on a computer that doesn't have the manual so I can't read the manual, if the manual says anything about that.
Thanks,
Cherrypointers

well, gulf of oman was a vbf2 map so was removed ages ago as the devs deemed it sub par compaired to the other PR made maps .

Striking pure fear into the hearts of any NATO soldier within 50 meters. It causes panic, confusion, and rage throughout their ranks. When you hear that song, it is like the symphony of hell has begun its first movement. The second movement consists of only the chimes of the afterlife.cherrypointers wrote: Also, what is the music in the suicide truck for?

Might as well remove Ejod Desert too. It is past due.gazzthompson wrote:well, gulf of oman was a vbf2 map so was removed ages ago as the devs deemed it sub par compaired to the other PR made maps .

Re: Gulf Of Oman?
that's your opinion, i'm sure the fact gulf of oman was a vbf2 map was more the deciding factor in its removal than the style of play it had.

It was a Vanilla map, part of PR's goal is to seperate it and its parent game as much as humanely possible. And I love Ejod Desert, it just needs a retrofit IMO. Replace some of those buildings with big enterable apartment blocks and we have a kick *** map!

Re: Gulf Of Oman?
It got removed because it was a vBF2 map, and the PR team cut off the nose to spite the face, same as Zatar Wetlands, which was the game's only working Counter-Attack map. (Edit: There were minor gameplay problems on Gulf of Oman, mostly that the map was just a little too shallow from Main to Main, but what I think was the 0.6 version gave it some breadth in the north. The map wasn't actually "bad" though, and even saw competitive play on the BigD ladder if memory serves.)
God I miss Zatar.

Re: Gulf Of Oman?
Yeah.. I miss Zatar Wetlands as well. Almost forgot about the counter-attack mode.. That was pretty awesome. I know the DEVs want to go completly away from BF2 maps but I really think that Zatar was one of the best functional PR maps....Truism wrote:It got removed because it was a vBF2 map, and the PR team cut off the nose to spite the face, same as Zatar Wetlands, which was the game's only working Counter-Attack map. Muttrah is in Oman and as such, the Carrier is just in the Gulf of Oman, so really PR still has the Gulf of Oman

PR took Oman to a whole other level. As well as Daqing and Zatar. They were good.

IMO, Gulf of oman was the best vbf2 in PR.

Re: Gulf Of Oman?
The play area for Gulf of Oman is just too small for PR, and it's removal was justified. Of course if anyone wanted to make a larger scale version of the same kind of game play maybe we could get the feeling back?

[R-DEV]Rhino,
Now that you say that, I see what you mean. Oman was and still is a great map, but I think Muttrah City is at least the equivelant and was an updated version. It's all the same scenario on a map that is Project Reality made.
Waldo_ii,
Thanks for that. I now understand.
Truism,
I liked Zatar too, but the same as what I said first, it's still the same principle with Muttrah City or Operation Barracuda. In fact, I actually confused the two maps once.

Put a redux back in. 4km map, but a Harrier playground (Muttrah is cobras)

I think you could make something like "gulf of man" becouse it was good map for PR.
