Indirect fire, what went wrong here?
Here are 2 scenarios that I was involved with in the last week.
1)
Al Basrah, NW village. My squad is at the largest 2 story building. 2-3 enemy squads are spawning on what we discovered later was a bugged spawnpoint to the NE of the building approx 50m.
We were engaged. Fortunately a friendly APC arrives.
But it doesn't fire. It can't see over the wall and therfore didn't open fire.
I deploy green smoke on the enemy compount and type "APC, ENGAGE COMPOUND WITH GREEN SMOKE, NO CIVIS PRESENT"
the APC does nothing.
I repeat my request.
My squad gets overrun around 5minutes later. We were trapped in that building, the APC could have saved us if he had actually started shooting.
2)
Kashan, South Bunker flag, Eastern Bunker.
My squad has held the flag long enough for SV to be capped (and another squad sucessfully held North Bunker)
We were about to move out when we were engaged aggressively by an enemy squad from the south. They were using the G3 to their advantage, and had a very good marksman.
We called CAS, and an apache turned up. I lased target, requesting cannon fire to saturate the area around the lase.
The apache fires once, maybe 10 rounds. stays stationary in the air for around 3 more minutes and buggers off. I repeat my requests for fire on the lase over and over.
My squad ends up running for our lives through the trenches before getting a buggered up extract from a blackhawk. (he had 2 gunners so my squad couldn't bloody fit in, fortunately some LOCO boys turned up with a Bradley)
What went wrong in these situations?

1)
probably too complicated for most players. They dont read teamchat and if they do they think "I am sure it is another APC" or of course they dont want to do what other tell them.
2)
Could be an AA lock or something that scared the apache off... Or of course a situation as posted ^

Yeah could be I think, which is strange considering we were capping Outpost by the time I got my extract. (We capped the MEC out at around 340-0)Could be an AA lock or something that scared the apache off... Or of course a situation as posted ^

People in PR can't grasp the concept on indirect fire.
Only chuck Norris can

It is much easier to do CAS in jets than in apache, apache has so many enemies on the ground that it gets shot out very easily. so who knows.
As for the APC, they probably didnt read your text, happens all too often, they must have thought, Oh smoke, must be friendlies in there, lets look someplace else.

You can only see a lase in visual anyway iirc.
Tbh best answer is go in rockets hot on the lase, since you want maximum damage, spread and speed.

Get a commander. If the APC squad uses VOIP and isn't full of tards, it should work. It's the best thing you can get when it comes to inter-squad comms.
User Ubaydah: "I used to play Call of Duty a lot and Battlefield 3. I am really good at those games 10th prestige, High K/d., I can kill people easily, etc. But on PR, for me, to be honest, I kind of suck."
User Not_able_to_kill: "Frontliner, you like evil man who comes to family house during christmas, takes out tree because it's too happy, so they can be just as sad as you"

1. Players involved don't read teamchat.
2. Players don't want to waste ammo on invisible targets.
3. Players think: "Someone else will do it"

also, when I am on an insurgency map, and I see green smoke, I dont fire those are usually friendlies.
Secondly, you can't read everything in the chat, you miss some things

That's all it is in a nut shell. Times I have been in a squad and I lay mark down and I say "FIRE THERE NOW" But nobody shoots. Why? Because they can't see the the kill. Lame frag rate hoes have no clue.People in PR can't grasp the concept on indirect fire.

If the APC had been on mumble I'd have had a good long chat with itcrAck_sh0t wrote:Go on the reality teamwrok server , use mumble and talk to other squad leaders.
We did have commander on Kashan, but he couldn't talk to individual squads so he didn't use mic

Re: Indirect fire, what went wrong here?
-It's always hard to get stuff like this working on pub servers if you haven't planned it ahead of time. I had some good results with my Mech Inf squad on Fool's Road with the APC hidden in the forest SW of Militia Main, me and the rest of the squad at the tree line locating and marking targets that the APC would fire on through the foliage, untouchable by AT and the artillery pieces. This was with the APC in my squad and I still had to do some organizing beforehand, pulling this off on the go on public servers is hard to get away with.

Re: Indirect fire, what went wrong here?
People underestimate or don't even consider indirect fire worthwhile.
I can see where they're coming from, in at least one standpoint. It all boils down to ammo. People are afraid of seeing the dreaded zero on their screen, indicating their all out of rounds to hit the enemy with. You're in a bad place when things get too low for comfort.
Armor has to retreat to base to rearm, while soldiers have to rely on a logistics truck or an ammo box, and the small ammo bag riflemen carry. This takes time, and can be close to impossible to receive if you're a footman squad with no means of getting back to base or receiving ammo.
I condone suppression. It's almost all I do, seeing as I usually go ironsights and the enemies are farther from me. And I'm not too good with killing far off targets with irons. So this opens a new window for terrible aimers like me to support the team.
More players are starting to understand the abilities of their guns beyond aiming and maiming. But sometimes, a player unfamiliar with this may be more hesitant to start blowing away at a marked spot. Hopefully, those players can learn and get better.

Well, the thing is that the APC was driven by PRT members, I'm not gonna say which team

If they weren't just mistakes, other players can make choices you don't approve of.
It is more effective to work together and provide indirect fire, but in public matches where not everyone shares the same mindset my expectations aren't that high.
Imagine all the threads we could make about these occurances...

Re: Indirect fire, what went wrong here?
Some people need to see their targets before they shoot. I find it's much better to just rain hell down on probable enemy locations. It makes them **** their pants and you score kills from hidden enemies who are covered by direct hits but not the splash.
