Arming Pilots.. Kit requestion suggestion

Why dont you get why the pistol was taken away!? Boored pilots take their kit whit a pistol and knife go whit a chopper behind enemy lines and parachute to the enemy firebases to knife em out, now that the knife and pistol are out they cant touch the firebases

THIS IS WHY we originally did it.

As for all the other ideas, we've hear them and for now will still stand our ground. The pilots only job if shot down is to get back to base. If you get shot, caught, followed, maced, ran over, sniped, drag into a orgy then you didnt get back to base.

Pilot is shot down and parashoots:
Options:

• Find your way back to base
• See enemy, hide until gone
• Cant move enemy around or chasing you, call for extract.

It really comes down to if you get shot down, survive, caught then you will become a POW or killed. Sure we could give you one mag or different pilots kits but the way we see it is we want that scare for your life feeling making back to base. Because no matter how many mags we do or dont give you the average player will say "instead of walking back to base might as well fight it out, maybe I can take out at least one guy".

I've noticed a lot less unrealistic behaviour since the weapons from the pilot kit were removed.

Para drops still happen, heli flys low and drops supply crate behind enemy lines/ objective. Squad full of pilots jump out over said supply crate at very high altitude, land request kits and go and cause mayhem without the enemy knowing they were there.

The pistol was never a problem, it just simply eliminated the need for a crate to be dropped as you could kill the enemy and pick their kits. The parachute is the real problem, without the parachute how are pilots meant to para drop?

While i don't have a problem myself with the pistol being removed, as i try to at-least get back to base or get evac, just pointing out the problem still lys.

I have bailed from a jet and helis a couple of times since the pistol got removed and belive me there is no better feeling then making it back to the main by staying hidden from enemy troops. I even got saved by Cougars squad on TG once using mumble.

Those supply crate should be getting destroyed, sounds like a exploit we need to fix. Hope server admins take note of this. Even then we still stand on the no pistols as they were a problem.

You didnt solve anything with Para, You just forced players to be more creative about it...

if it flew low to drop the crate, why not just drop a squad off conventionally? seems like alot of effort.

I serisouly think a 3mins spawn time and seperated jet and helicopter pilots would have accomplished your goals CRF

That would mean the heli would have to stop and land, much quicker to drop crate. Plus i suppose with the crate there already you could do numerous jumps unless the enemy destroys the crate.

It's a playermod. The devs are trying to force players to act realistically, as opposed to making the game realistic. When I had the pistol and chute, I never fought it out. I discharged my pistol only when I had to, often when about to be discovered by a lone infantryman or a pair of guys.

I never went around "ramboing" because everyone else has scopes. I don't. It's still just as tense, if not more, because there's the *chance* of being able to defend yourself, whereas now you are essentially a free kill.

So crates don't take damage when dropped at high speed as long as they are dropped low enought to the ground?

That's the problem, you cant code the players, you're always going to have Rambos pistols or not, for some people no weapon might work, for others it just makes it more fun...

To be honest i don't know, but a drop hover, were you essentially come in high speed, pitch up and lower throttle to quickly slow, press alt fire to drop crate and fly off, all can be done in less than a couple of seconds, still quicker than dropping off a squad.

yep, speed doesnt matter, always dropped them in fly-by "mode"

when I'm dropping a squad I often drop the crate as I'm coming in, like you say, that way there is no risk of crushing som1

This is not an exploit IMO. In fact, this is a great way to make paradrops realistic. IRL paradrops happen but they require the troops to be deployed directly from base as to not fight with a parachute on back. Also, when landing it can take a few minutes to cut off the chute, pull on the pack and ready the weapon. This is what walking to the crate replaces. This kind of plan should be an option for strategic gameplay.

But the fact that its pilots doing the paradrops make it totally unrealistic, if people insist on para drops then i would much prefer an airbourne kit and only on maps like kashan and qinling, possibly on cuda aswell.

The problem is that no matter what the dev's do to stop it, people will still come up with creative ways to carry on the same, as a post said before, you can't change the players. Giving the pilots back their weapons would just go straight back to square 1.

I agree that it shouldn't be an issue since it takes longer than a regular drop and just achieves the same goal as a regular slow dropoff.
