Dying on A Ladder - Left in Limbo

Greets Gents,

Strange one here. Got shot just before entering a ladder, bled out WHILE on the ladder. Fell to the bottom of said ladder. Squad screen show's I'm clearly dead (no kit). Could not look around.

Text of "Waiting for Medic" did also not appear; however could still yell "Medic" via LMB.

Haven't been able to repeat it so far in gameplay, but i'll keep tryin'

idk if its atall related, but on a diffrent mod i play, roflbox, you can get stuck on the ground deadlike....
its bassickly sandbox, so i loaded an object nothin, i did the jump command... nothen, i did the teleport command.. nothing
the only fix they had was an admin could "jail" you (loats of smacks on sandbox)

so could it be there is a glitch in vbf2, that allowes that to happen?

Yes, it is possible that this is a vBF2 bug manifesting itself inside PR.

As stated, it appears i'm neither "alive" nor "wounded/dead". From my limited knowledge, it appears that the server and/or the client lost an event between them, and hence are in an "out-of-sync" state between them. (i.e. the client thinks one thing, the server thinks another).

Perhaps a code-check (if even possible?) to check for this corner-case. Or, alternatively, allow a user-initiated complete re-sync between client-state and server-state (perhaps via console command).

P.S. I waited a good 2-3 minutes before discon/recon - and did not bleed health. (Can't bleed what you don't have, eh?) =)

Uh oh, I "used" that bug to create civi zombies in 0.6 but I thought it was an issue with the civi code.

I've seen it on Jabal as USMC once

had this as well, waited for 3 minutes and then i automatically respawned on the point i had selected beforehand

Had this bug a lot of times in w/Fallujah. Getting shot on a ladder falling to the bottom and the same as the others. No give up option, no shout for medic, shows me as dead but unable to respawn.

I managed to get out by calling for a medic to rez me out over voip. If theres no medics nearby then only option to right the bug is to reconnect to server.

Quite annoying.

One time on Muttrah City back in 0.85 I was lasing for the Cobra. I was spotted by an enemy APC. I started running away but obvious I got shot in the back with a few 50 calibre bullets.

It said I was wounded, though I had no blood on the screen edges, couldn't call a medic, couldn't respawn nor select a respawn location, but the weirdest thing was I could move my head slightly as if my head were popped up from the ground and Im spying on people.

Ah, the limbo bug

Yeah, I encountered this once not too long ago as well.....happen JUST as I was beginning to climb a ladder. Meaning, I died just as I took hold of the ladder. I think its that critical half a second transition time from being on the ground and then on the ladder, and if you get killed in that half second, the bug gets you.

A very rigged way of fixing this problem is to have a squad mate throw molotovs on you if your Insurgents.

I had this happen in the fort on 7 gates and someone actually revived me and I popped back out of the ground/limbo. Very unsettling.

Right, from what I can see for some reason you don't get killed on the ladders but wounded and the give up button doesn't appear. Same thing happens if you die out of bounds, but when you're there you still take damage witch kills you in the end. As the wounded time has been risen to 5 mins since new patch you have quite a while to wait until respawn.

I guess you can't select a spawn point? Better don't have your rally point selected while climbing then, in case it gets overrun or a new one placed - might explain why some could spawn and others couldn't.
