I knew I was on to something. Thanks for doing the tests, Riff! Let me know if you get any other results.

Lets say your F16 gets hit by 5 AA missiles (for my point) all at the same time. Your jet would cut all it's power, maybe have some sort of "warning! System failures! Eject!" message play during this ~5 second "bail out" time, telling you that you have to bail or else you die. Although the jet will die, this will add some neat retrieving of the pilot scenarios.

Mix this with.. forgot his name.. it's a post about the jet pilot / helo pilot surviving a crash only loses half the tickets, instead of losing all the ticket's worth.
They way it works is that the jet would have a set amount of health, which would be about 5-times as much as now. Then, the disabling effect would happen at a very high percentage of damage. It gets disabled relatively easily, but has a lot of hitpoints between then and destruction before it blows up.

I'd say that 5 seconds is about the most that is necessary, and having alarms. Nothing fancy with the crazy "warning! warning! danger will robinson, danger!", just a nice 'beep' and some flashing red light or something would be enough. If you don't get the cues by then you are not paying attention to the game anyway.

As for the halved tickets thing, I'm tossed on it because I don't like giving pilots a reason to be sought after or anything, but I would like to see more bailouts occur. I'd say implement this first, and see how many bailouts occur; if worthwhile, then look into doing the tickets.

This would cause two things. 1. It would encourage pilots to try and survive when they can. 2. It would encourage pilots to be a little bit more cautious with their jets. The ticket system in game simulates both the loss of resources and attrition. While the loss of a fighter jet represents a very large economic loss for a country, the loss of the fighter pilot simulates the negative social impact it has on a countries war effort. Especially now a days when combat is very localized the loss of a fighter pilot is a fairly big deal when it comes to the pr side of waging war. I think making a theoretical "jet pilot" kit worth a good deal more tickets would simulate that fact. Also why not?
Jet pilot getting teamkilled = -10 tickets
People grab jet pilot kits just for the hell of it = -10 tickets
Jet pilot CTDs = -10 tickets

Such is life, gameplay will always be subject to player maturity

Not if you can only request them off fighter jets.
