You can already choose the "alt" kits by right clicking. However, the commorose is static for all factions. Not all "alt" kits are ironsighted, some have an aimpoint for example. So having an icon or text that represents an ironsight wouldn't work that well. I also think it would increase the amount of "icon spam", too many pictures, it would get confusing pretty quickly, it's starting to get there even now. But hey you never know, it is all subject to change

Definitely nicer than the current version. And the icon next to the kit selection is a nice touch, and seems like it would make it easier for people to save a few moments picking a kit, as they can match the icons from the squad window to the selection window.

Very nice, AncientMan. Not only looks professional but this can also really help new players. I especially liked how building icons get a little triangle and the request icons get an exclamation mark, though the symbol for markers is unclear. Maybe just leave it symbol-less, since this is the thing vanilla players are used to anyway. This will better signify that those are the old commands they're used to, and everything else is new.
Also, I'm not sure your about your "icon spam" fear regarding unscoped kits. Consistency is a very important thing in a user interface, in my opinion, and with the main comma rose having an icon for both options it's important for the kit selection menu to behave similarly. Otherwise new users might not be sure that the "x / y" without right icon still responds to right click like the main rose.
As for aimdot / ironsight issue, I think it's actually beneficial to have a single icon for both aimdot and iron sight. In general making icons consistent along different factions is good, whenever possible, especially with PR having a gazillion different ones.

So we can already (in 0.87) for example right-click on Officer and get the Iron Sight version of it? Whaat? I didn't know that.. Anyway, we need to make such things more clearly. Either by the system which single.shot (nor) posted, or make it like the regular commo rose with TEXT / TEXT. That really shows that I can get something else if I right-click.
