Re: IMS
most of the stuff shown on future weapons are either still in it's early development stages or are projects that get scrapped later on. and personally i think this is one of those projects that will eventually get scrapped. a sniper or even an aircraft bombing the area would be able to take these out. i'd say metal storm is a more likely candidate for this job since it also works against aircraft and munitions fired from said aircraft.

Metal storm is bullshit too. Once it fire, its useless.Bringerof_D wrote:most of the stuff shown on future weapons are either still in it's early development stages or are projects that get scrapped later on. and personally i think this is one of those projects that will eventually get scrapped. a sniper or even an aircraft bombing the area would be able to take these out. i'd say metal storm is a more likely candidate for this job since it also works against aircraft and munitions fired from said aircraft.
The best way to denie an enemy operating in an area is to option 1 : lay down mine¹, deploy troops, or just use a geo-stationary spy satelite and post a guy whos gonna eat alot of chips and drink alot of coca-cola making sure there is no troop movement.
¹ : may be a kind of mine, like the one we already use in the field, but with a sensor in it that will be connected to a "kind of remote" so you just put it off and get them back, "a electonic pin safety" if you prefer, but even then, if it use electronics, it can be jam, or scrap.

not that this will change anything, but i originally saw this on Weaponology on Military channel on demand
(on demand -> history and Nature->military channel) if you want to watch it. But yea it was an episode on boobie traps. and this was #1.

Re: IMS
useless it is not, the new metal storm models dont require manual loading after every salvo. but yes in terms of practicality your idea is alot cheaper. lol i never said metal storm is a good replacement for mines, i just said its better than IMSHotrod525 wrote:Metal storm is bullshit too. idk, like a mine with a 20 M radius where if u are infantry or a vehicle all u heard is a boom then ur dead. Think of it as the claymore in nilla bf2. it had an insain trip rdium and friendlies could pass with out getting blow up. Like that i guess. but i no NOTHING about [rogramming and stuff but it should be 2 hard. but it dont matter cuse prob wont be ingame anyway.

I remember this being mentioned as part of the FCS ages ago along with alot of remote sensor webs deployed by air. But this is clearly a long way away.
Though it is completely awesome. Skynet is going to have a field day with this
