O.o Wow the complaints of people are amazing.

Lemme get this whole thread straight.

Someone took the time to put a mark on his screen. To give him the center point of the screen. For use while unscoped or for the AR undeployed mode.

Simple point on that regard. If you need a point to tell you the center of your screen? Get a pair of glasses. It isn't that difficult to know and honestly? With the AR undeployed kit at 50 or less? The pure volume of fire is going to make hitting the target easily.

Lets look at the other side. People are equating it to hacking. PEOPLE I HAVE PLAYED WITH AND ARE BETTER THEN THAT! Rudders mate. I've seen you play. Honestly tell me? Is it a -massive- tactical advantage to know the exact center of your screen? Hell no its not cause and I am making an educated guess from playing with you. You are good enough to know the bleeding center of your screen!!!!

Christ this is like yelling at someone for changing the insurgent kit's geometry with an RPG gunners geometry. Hint? They don't make the worlds biggest difference.

My opinion? Draw all you want if your that dedicated to the damn thing. I like to think I have better things to do then bust out a sharpie and alcohol so I know the -dead- center of my screen.

Jesus next people are going to complain that its hacking to change the default BF2 VOIP key. Changing it gives you a minor speed advantage due to communication you know?

POST EDIT:

My thanks to Rhino boy for noticing how rather trivial the whole thing is.

So that's what you're calling it, a "weapon sight"?

You fail so hard; I'm just going to hold myself back from responding any further because frankly, I don't know what else to say besides this:

Pretty lame. I know the centre of my screen really well.

Shame on you!

Uh, Muffin, when you right click, it essentially turns into a weapons sight.

Cheesy, thank you. The only reason I'm getting so defensive is because there is no person actually offering another point of view. Thank you, truly, for your input.

I guess now, Red-screen dots and macros are illegal on servers now. So remember guys dont hack. (FYI, I dont use macros I dont have that much money)

you have been on these fourms since 2007, you shouldn't be surprized with the reaction with this thread. with regards too a new user name. all anyone needs is your current name in a SS to have your GUID.

placing dot in the middle of your screen either from a program or a marker is a cheat. if it was not, the devs would have put one in the mod.

Its not cheating IMO. Is it how the devs intended the game to be played? No, but that doesn't make it cheating.

Knowing the center of the screen and having a dot in the exact middle is not the same. I sure as hell know the middle of my screen. But, i wouldn't feel comfortable taking a short burst with the automatic rifle and hitting my target. I would end up walking the tracers to my target. With the dot i would be able to take a confident short burst, hitting my mark.

I say keep doing it if it works for you. I could care less what other people do. To me, it's the same as adjustable mouses and advanced control devices(like throttles, wheels, etc) they all give advantages if used correctly, but it still requires you to play the game.

badmojo, you know that PB bans for "red dot cheats"? the only difference with this, is that it is low tech. there has been many folks over the years playin PR that have been banned for having it show up in their SS. the only difference here is that someone was silly enough to admit to it, in an open fourm.

Does this guy really need 13+ people to say its cheating? I think he understands already what the community thinks about it, don't insult him anymore then what was needed.

Sure u can... Everyone can... Doesn't mean ur getting the kills or even hitting anything haha.
gazzthompson wrote:i dont need to try it, i know the center of my screen to a fair degree of accuracy.
Yes i agree with u here gazz. There is no need for a dot on the screen. After a while u learn where to aim and where the centre of the screen is. It comes naturally..

EDIT: Having the dot is not cheating. It just means ur a bit of a noob who needs to get over his fear of PR not being vBF2

A function of the Punkbuster (PB) software is to take screenshots (SS) of your gaming image while you play, and to determine if you are using any modifications that alter the game or UI (user interface) in any unintended manner.

When players use cheats such as aiming aids, auto-aiming tools, macros, etc PB is able see this and take action against it.

While this method is in my opinion an unfair exploit and goes against the intended function of the game, it's not what I would really consider a hack or cheat. Lowering your graphics settings, increasing system volume, etc are also not actually cheats or hacks because they are not altering the game's function against how it was designed. That would be saying that people with lower-quality video cards have an advantage over players with high-end models. Dolphin Diving in vBF2 was also not really a cheat or hack because it was still within game design, it was a fault/bug by the developers that lead to an exploit that has since been corrected.

In PR you have plenty of visual cues to help identify the middle of the screen, or more importantly the middle of your firing cone. Even with a 3-5 round burst, you should see tracer trails and other impact signs such as dirt being kicked up or sparks.

As a former SAW Gunner myself, I can tell you that if you are firing your weapon without using the sights, it's because you are in a dire situation such as CQB where you only have time to "spray and pray". Under any normal situation, you'll be using your sights. In real life we do learn to sometimes fire "over the sights", but I don't think that's a required function in PR.

I'm sure the OP understands that everyone is against using such methods because it's seen as unfair and unintended. The point has been made, nobody is attempting to argue on behalf of supporting this type of action, so in my opinion there is no further point in even resuming this discussion.

That's a full rog Ninja,

I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not using that anymore in PR. Unless it actually turns out to be part of the intended use of the mod.

BTW PB kicks/bans for red dot hacks/programs because it modifies files., i tried modding kashan without backing it up once, PB kicked my ***, it was a real pain in the *** to fix too.

yeah but see thats the thing, you're using it when you are NOT sighted in, thats the issue, if you dont right click you dont get sights, simple as that. this essentially as i said replaces the crossheir and what other purpose does that crossheir serve then to be used as sights?

Well go to my suggestions thread and check that out. I want to be able to have a full field of view while simultaneously being able to accurately fire the weapon.

Just like when I play paintball, I know where I'm shooting without having to deal with alpha wave headaches and I actually suppress people and if I'm lucky I get the suppressed.

Tap your CommoRose key, that is centered and will give you a good approximation of your CQB cone of fire.

If you rely on this, tap your noggin a few times as hard as you can.

There's tracers in this game, use it.
