A small change to IEDs
This is just a small suggestion, to add a short, perhaps 1 second, delay to the IEDs trigger.
The problem I see in many games at the moment is the over-effectiveness of IEDs. Rendering vehicles on maps such as fallujah and korengal somewhat suicidal as vehicles are endlessly channelled down narrow street ways. Equally on maps like Operation Archer, the IED becomes quite boring as the hills and valleys are so accessible there's no reason for anyone to take the roadways. To combat the power of ieds in Korengal and Fallujah I suggest adding a short delay to the fuze/trigger. This way there are no guaranteed kills with the ieds, and organised ambushes are more advantageous. This would hopefully make it a bit more fair when on the blufor team*
For the more open maps this won't really work, so I would suggest that vehicles are adjusted to make hill-climbing more difficult, and a less efficient choice to using the roadways.
*you can discuss whether 'fair' is realistic if you want, I'm suggesting this on the basis that it is a bit disheartening if you die every time you get in a humvee

Emphises on the "Improvised" bit of the name. IED's can be made out of anything.

Actually a visual improvement would be useful too, making them bigger would definately help since they can currently be hidden very effectively in your average rock

Re: A small change to IEDs
I remember hearing from an earlier topic[bit of a resuggest this topic] that a delay to the explosion wasnt possible. Im not sure if that only meant through the weapon itself or all other ways of possibly coding it... I could just be remembering incorrectly though
But I agree, itd be nice to have say a 2-4 second random timer or something so that it would be a bit more inaccurate, could explode before they drive over or just after. Would be a bit more real, since these are many times them calling them number... and if youve ever called one phone from another when they are right next to one another, you can tell the delay between pressing Dial, and when it rings... and this time changes depending on service/range/signal what have you...
Hmm...

Yeah its odd. I can send a message to a phone five meters away and it wont be received for several minutes but if I send one halfway across the country they get it near instantly.

i like it how it is. you can change the delay, but i think a 1-2 sec delay woundln t make a big diffrence for the blufor, if the insurgents have planned an excellent ambush. And in my opinion a 4 sec is too long ...
the blufor has just to watch out for ieds for example on falludsha mostly. if they are careful, the won t lose any vehicles easily...

Re: A small change to IEDs
Hmm I had a feeling hardcoded would come up soon ^_^
I think a larger IED would be an ok compromise, just something a little more recognisable that didn't fit quite so neatly into rocks (even if it was something with a couple of fuses sticking out it would be something unique to look out for). What I would like it to achieve is to minimise those moments where you've done everything you could, and taken lots of precautions but you still get blown up by an IED hidden in a rock. It's not that those moments aren't fun (they are ^_^, and the "oh #@%!" moment just before is excellent), it's just the walk from base afterwards isn't

I totaly agree with the ... part about .. the delay between the time u press the Send botton and the actual time the phone rings'[R-DEV wrote:OkitaMakoto;1169544']I remember hearing from an earlier topic[bit of a resuggest this topic] that a delay to the explosion wasnt possible.
