Can you imagine how awesome PR 2 will be?!
PR 2 if/when its done will, imo, be the best realistic multiplayer shooter of all times. I just can't imagine a game so perfect, with all the teamwork, big *** maps, shi*load of vehicles, factions, kits, million things to do, constant improvements, better graphics, squad system, commander system... I could go on forever.
What I really want to say is thank you DEVs, for making this mod and for making PR2, and all that without any payment, I admire you guys, I hope you will get allot of money when PR2 OWNS ALL THE OTHER MP WARGAMES MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Dont make any assumptions
If you over hype yourself for it you might be disappointed, not saying that the DEVs suck, its just remember, they will not be getting paid until they release it, and even when they release it they might not get that much since people might not want to pay a subscription.
But im still confident the DEVs will do well with or without money, unlike other game makers

Uh, or something. Did you hear that? *turns on flashlight, raises weapon and walks off*

Will we have to buy a new game in order to play PR2 or will the current BF2 game still make it work?

Seriously though 30$ a year on a game that I play a lot, is okay, I mean what will that ammount to by the time PR 2 is up, 3€
And with subscriptions they can make community events with event exclusive maps.
There goes hoping of course that a big publisher will not bring out an ARMA 2 like game that can support a high number of players and runs relatively bug free and stable.

Re: Can you imagine how awesome PR 2 will be?!
My imagination of it -
+256 players per server
30x30km maps (at least)
High amount of assets
Destructible environment
Explosions cause craters
Radars
Player controlled artillery
3-4 km visual range.
Yeah... Pretty orgasmic if i can say, just patrolling the skies in a F16 or some other jet / ground attack Aircraft and just watch the battle from the air until someone reports hostile aircraft activity or requests a ground attack run.

It's gonna use the C4 engine, and it's very much a WIP, will be a long while before it's donehiberNative wrote:not really, since i don't even know what engine it's going to be on, if it's even getting made/completed.

Re: Can you imagine how awesome PR 2 will be?!
We do know the GFX will be better than BF2.
It will no longer be based off a propriety engine. No more hard-coded problems. Total customization.
I don't know anything about net code, but if any of you have a high ping it will probably affect the N number of players around you. I also don't know what is a realistic number of players that can be maintained by a single server. In regards to that (if we get more players than a single server can handle, I assume it will require many servers with discrete loading between the portions of map hosted by them.
I hope that as it's name suggests, PR will attempt to recreate a live combat situation with intense realism.
It will not be an arcade shooter. Most serious players should be interested, and the Vanilla-style players will have to learn to adapt.
Longer rounds, possibly lasting days or weeks. (Only if the amount of players skyrockets per map/server.)
You might also get a choice of which team you prefer. You might not be able to join the enemy once having joined a side.
You might be able to choose the people on the server you want to play with.
All these would be considered awesome, howbeit, these are my opinions.
It may well be pay-to-play. A necessary evil, but in return, the DEVs will be receiving something for looking after your recreation.

Lower your expectations people. It is so early in the process that there really can be no expectations, everything here is pure assumption and speculation. Just enjoy the current game that we have.

Re: Can you imagine how awesome PR 2 will be?!
As I see it, it will be good although it will have to go trough a LOT of testing after a LOT of coding in order to lighten and optimize how it will work.
They're also aiming at porting what is currently in PR, excluding BF2 statics wich means having to create new ones to replace them. This also means that if they're going to remake current maps for PR2, then they're gonna have to find a way to port heightmaps, colormaps, static placement, etc into PR2, unless they try to do that manually = a lot of work.
The least I expect for PR2 is an engine that keeps up with BF2 standarts. With that, seeing current factions (with assets) ported to PR2 (including comfac's in development). 64players is enough for now, if it can go further go ahead, but be sure it can run 64 first in order to keep up with current PR.
There are a lot of possibilities with the new engine. That means PROBABLY teh l33t fastr0p3z, possibly 3 factions on one map or maybe more, objectives based gameplay, realistic deviation, weapon sway, etc....
Altho there are many possibilities, we must be careful to choose wisely what will be in (and most needed) rather than putting everything in and end up like crappy ArmA 1 that will lag, bug and kill lower-end PCs. (even tho it's soooo awesome and realistic :roll
.. gah, kidding myself again, I'll have enough with BF2 : PR for now. But it's great to see a mod becoming its own indie game!
