Well,texturing R77 is not easy!!!
But MiG-29 can use this missles!!!Last version(R-27AE) have AMRAAM seek!!!
~50% has done!!!Need fixing textures...

when rendering a object you really should maximize the space of your render and have your object taking up all the space in it, right now pretty much 3/4 of your renders are just blank space... Also higher rez renders and edged faces shots would be good, can't really tell the quality from these tiny little renders.

Also when posting pics from IS, use the direct linking please :)

That looks cool, but bigger pics more focused on the missile are always better. Still, nice job!

cool, could still do with an edged face pic thou and tri count etc.

Your texture looks very high rez for a missile thou take it you plan to resize it before saying its final?

Also to show you how to take better renders here is a quick example, this is what your pretty much doing:

1/2 of the image is wasted space since the missile (cylinder in my case) is just at the bottom of the image etc...

This is pretty much the same type of render, but far more space used up and as such you can see far more detail in the same size image.

Also the best way to take an edged face view if you dont know how is just press F4 to show the edged faces up and then take a screenshot of it, you can also make your object colour black and assign a different material to it to make the edge faced lines show up black like so:

Now I can see how the model is made and can see its very unoptimized since all thous segments etc are not needed :p

which you can either post as such:

or you can do what I do and wrap it strait into the tags using the "insert image" button at the top of your post or you can type the tags in manually if you wish which as you can see results in a far cleaner image without any crappy links or attachments to them for IS advertising.

You can apply this to the head of your missile saving a few tris :)


And ye, a 1024x1024 texture is huge for a missile, a 1024x1024 texture can skin a entire APC :p

512^2 tops but would probably want to go smaller than that tbh, realistically speaking 256^2 or 128^2 would do.

that really depends on how well you use the normal map but probably not needed no since no one is going to really see the detail it offers when its either mounted on the wing when the jet is sitting on the taxiway/runway/plane stand, flying or when the missile is flying towards you at god knows what speed :p

Edged faces is normally better than wire frame, easier to see what's going on :)

Still need to collapse some faces on the nose as per this tut: http://tom3d.dk/Tutorials/sphere.jpg

and ye, if you can get some close up, edged faces pics of the tail (rear) and the thins (little bits sticking out) would be good :)

not that hard to fix the UVs after you collaps a few faces, in fact you can probaly get away without even fixing them with a flat colour like yours :p

When I collapse faces for LOD optimization I rarely find myself needing to fix the UVs after it, not just because its a LOD and only low gfx users will see it / only be seen from far away but because you can hardly tell the difference in most cases.
