Revives

Post by xXbrick84Xx »

Please remove this if this has been mentioned before, and I'm sure it has, but I just thought I would give a little input on this topic. The medic being able to revive people 100% of the time in PR is a tad on the unrealistic side I think. I've had numerous occasions where I have shot an enemy in the HEAD with a high powered sniper rifle in PR and a medic has just come and revived them using his magical epipens. The fact is, even if you are an insurgent, (or anyone else for that matter) hopped up on cocaine, (referring to real insurgents :P ) and you take a 5.56 or 7.62x51 round anywhere on your body, your 9 times out of 10 not going to get back up and fight. Now even though I think doing away with the revive completely would be the right thing to do, that might not be in the right mind of other people. So maybe they could just make it to where people who have been killed can only be revived like 30% of the time instead of EVERY time. Or even lower the amount of epipens given to a medic to like 2 or 3, so if he does have to use more than one to revive a person, he will have less chance of reviving that person because he will quickly run out of epipens. In real life modern combat, if a soldier is critically injured, for example he is shot by a 7.62x51mm round from an M-14 to his center mass, he would be escorted to the nearest field hospital and more than likely wouldn't fight again for a pretty lengthy period of time. But since this would be impossible to simulate in a game, (let alone a game on the bf2 engine :P ) I think it is necessary that revives be either removed or limited to where people cant just instantly be revived by one poke from some adrenaline. I hope to hear some positive input on this topic :D .

Thanks,
Brick

It's been discussed quite a few times. We used to have headshots causing unrevivable damage, but it was removed. The reason basically is that reviving a player is a metaphor for everything that'd usually be done, including the transport back to base and all. It's like this because the scale of the game is too small and the task too boring for a really realistic medic system. Its mainly a gameplay thing. Especially if the rally points are removed/very restricted in 0.9, squads need a chance to stay together. If every shot you take puts you back to base - or even every third - that's a serious problem for gameplay.

I believe that a shot in the head(face, not helmet) will render anyone dead in PR. As for revival, anyone killed after being revived 30 before is permanently killed.(he will have to respawn, so no revive). This is since .87 i think.

Stop crying because you're unable to raise your kill-score while lonewolfing as an uB@rl33t sn!pz0r. The current reviging system was intruduced to reward proper use of teamplay, which means having at least 5 mates of your squad around you, who can provid covering fire and smoke while the squad's medic trying to get you back.
Try to operate as a cohesive unit and you'll see, that its pretty hard for the enemy medic to revive someone, if he's under constant fire by your squadmates.
Weakening the medic would strenghten people walking on the battlefield on their own without having an idea what this game is all about.

Dude, this has been suggested many times over. It's even in the already suggested suggestions list. Medics are there to keep squad cohesion and give players a chance to remain together. We're already losing rally points and this will only make the game even more difficult to work together on.

I hope somewhere down the line that a more realistic medical system can be implemented when/if all maps are 2k+

but its not really doable atm.

I do agree with Spec Operator on how it will make working as a team a little hard especially in .9 with the doing away with the permanent rally thing. But wouldn't it also force squads to be a little more tactically aware and use more teamwork? Knowing that their medic only has 3 epipens, or knowing that their medic may not 100% of the time be able to revive their teammate?

Thanks,
Brick

No, it would cause squads instead of using teamplay, to simply hang back out of being afraid of dying.

To be honest thats already happening now, with the lack of competent medics players are simply hanging back now out of fear of dying, and having to run from the firebase.
