Okay. The glasses do not suck, they should be red kittens that are unaware that there is a mandate that US soldiers must fail.[R-CON]ReadMenace wrote:I'm tired of reading, "the glasses suck." This statement is fail. It is not a criticism, it is hardly a thought.
If you have a criticism, at least show us some respect by articulating it to some degree.
"The glasses suck, they should be red."
"The glasses suck, I like kittens."
"The glasses suck, I'm unaware that there is a mandate that US soldiers wear ballistic eye wear while in a combat zone."
"The glasses suck, therefore I am fail."
All of these are far more articulate, and give us some idea of what you're thinking so that we can perhaps work towards the glasses being "not suck."
Furthermore, there are at least five varieties of eye protection modeled, be specific.

The deal is that highlights are not limited to only content and features that will appear in the next version.thebeanie wrote:So whats the deal with the up-armored humvees.. its in the highlights but on the post it said "probably wont be ready for 0.9"

Are you a tester?
Are you a dev?
Hearsay?
After looking back at the reel it obviously doesn't state that all these are for .9 but some do and some of those that haven't have had people reacting like they are all features that will be included.

All the items posted in highlights, blog posts, etc, are not necessarily going to be in the next PR version, as some of these things take several iterations to get them in shape for release.
We know it may cause confusion, but we think it's a motivation boost for both the community and the developers to show off their work as they work on it, so everybody will understand if something doesn't make the next release, specially seeing that many other things are

The highlight reels are just a summary of previous highlight threads, regardless of whether the content/features will be finished by the time the next version is released.ryan d ale wrote:I know you've said this before but could you please elaborate?

You have much more discipline than I. I would have said they were just "easter eggs". Kinda like sending a private to find a box of grid squares or asking the PSG for a PRC E7 form...
Oh, and can't wait for the release!!!

Re: Project Reality Highlights Reel #5
I think US army, IRL, is limited to wearing sun glasses only in insurgencies like Iraq and Afghanistan. But I've never seen them wear glasses during combat against a conventional force(how far back was that? XD). But I think when facing a conventional army, they would have to wear goggles. Those glasses are for the environment because Iraq and Afghanistan are really sunny places. It would be better suited if they would lose the glasses in the AAS maps and keep them in insurgency maps. Would look more right.[R-CON]ReadMenace wrote:I'm tired of reading, "the glasses suck." This statement is fail. It is not a criticism, it is hardly a thought.

the sunglasses are used for protecting the eyes from ejected shells and dust, not only for sunprotection

Re: Project Reality Highlights Reel #5
I've shot guns before and never had a shell head even to the direction of my eyes. I dont think its solely for that. Protection from sun, maybe for accuracy and for style. Americans like style in their military stuff. Its hard not to notice it, lol. I didnt see the brits or others wear them, atleast not on the level of the US army. The glasses do make the soldiers of the army look more modern and fancy. So its good for 0.9. Cant wait.Maxfragg wrote:the sunglasses are used for protecting the eyes from ejected shells and dust, not only for sunprotection

All weapons are different... i believe the sa80 has a tendancy to eject its shells up and backwards which is why the weapon isn't suitable for lefties. The glasses probably have ballistic protection from small shrapnel and also look cool. I could be wrong about all of that hopefully not though lolalec89 wrote:I've shot guns before and never had a shell head even to the direction of my eyes.

Re: Project Reality Highlights Reel #5
Well yeah, I know that. lol. But most usually have the shell eject from the side, the right side. Most I ever shot on ranges have that. But w/e. Back to the topic. The glasses do make the model look more detailed and cool. We, russians, also need to add that coolness to our military but sadly there is almost no sun in Chechnya for us to justify wearing them other than just saying its "kewl".Protector wrote:All weapons are different... i believe the sa80 has a tendancy to eject its shells up and backwards which is why the weapon isn't suitable for lefties.
