Re: Movable train and objective.
why should they need a train?! Why not make a Supply truck driveable for Insurgent, they objective is to take the truck and drive it to the safe zone.US/UK objective is to prevent them from doing that.

Re: Movable train and objective.
Well Insurgents blow up trains sometimes as they did in Russia a few month back. Also as you see in the movies some bad guys like to take over trains.
Since Insurgents do not have as much content or helicopters as their Opposition does I think it would be fair for them to have a train to move from point a to point b in big maps

while trains evoke thoughts of noobs and wild wild west kinda stuff, im positive this is an awesome idea!
and the PR team would do something awesome with it if implemented

You can have vehicles attached to other vehicles (The Georgia Conflict mod has Flying Cows air lifting Jeeps for example) - each wagon could be a vehicle.clueless_noob wrote:Any given vehicle cannot have more than eight seats. That is one of BF2 engine's limitations.

or you can just have people jump into the carts like in the FH2 glider where you do not have to press e to enter you can just hop in

Ye but that train was a public train with civillians on board this train is an objective to seize and bring back.rushn wrote:Well Insurgents blow up trains sometimes as they did in Russia a few month back. Also as you see in the movies some bad guys like to take over trains.

Re: Movable train and objective.
or maybe an objective where you have to snatch a WMD from a train full of ins.
or a team has to try and stop a train and eliminate Opposition
they can make armored trains i know Russians used them in Chechnya
something like this would be cool

I think Russia still uses armored trains and is planning to get more

There are tons of historic data on that my friend.myles wrote:Why would an army need to secure a train?

That's what i said previously.Startrekern wrote:A possible way to create the train is having only ONE seat for the driver, and having the train move slowly enough that everyone can just stand on it's cars without being knocked off.
This is pretty easy to do and people have done it as i can see it. There are tons of conflict contexts, such as hamas/taliban highjack.
PR dev team should really start working on something that's not the conventional AAS style and get more new exciting, dynamic and inovative stuff like they did with the cache game play (another brilliant idea), this would boost the mod and give it a whole new perspective!

Re: Movable train and objective.
Rushn... i like the idea of having anti-air guns on it too... would allow air assets to be add.
What an exciting scenario would that be.
I've found something like this as well, though i'm more familiar to the idea of being just an infantry map.

Or we could have an objective something like this, Iraqi stactic VIP or object is inside the train and your objective is to go and kill it without wrecking the train, as it posesses historical value, something like searching and getting a cache destroyed without destroying UN historical heritage mosque. Lots of ideas.
Or have it like 6 or 12 civilians inside it and the objective is to arrest them, but they must stay inside the train, and soldiers cant get in, as it moves accros the map slowly. If it gets there with at least 1 not arrested it's a win. If you are a civilian and you died, you can spawn as soldier. Lets say in the story line, these civilians are top government dictators that must leave through a certain route. That would be an escort, and they can't get killed by OPFOR because they must go on trial for their war crimes lol(Remember 2003 when US took Saddam off the tiranic government and he ran away from the contry, etc)
Or lets say the opposite, they are prisioneirs being taken in a train and the objective is taliban/insurgents to retrieve them back.
For the un-informed,
HERES DATA AND VIDEO ON THE TRAIN CONTEXT:

Re: Movable train and objective.
I was thinking of maybe the train starts out without any defenses(maybe some simple sandbags) and that you have to build them in time before you get atacked

I think the Saddam's train idea and loadout posted above is perfect, it looks so PRish
Good idea.rushn wrote:I was thinking of maybe the train starts out without any defenses(maybe some simple sandbags) and that you have to build them in time before you get atacked

This is the type of gameplay that I would love to see with the Brazilian vs Farc maps. If there could be some kinda drug drain <- lolz wtf? Then the Brazilian / Columbian army had to secure it and destroy the drugs, or possibly transport the drugs from point A to point B...
Love this idea

hmm destroying/securing a train so it can get to it's location...
sounds like Wolfenstien Enemies Territory where you allies (or was it axis) need to get this tank across the map
Not bad I guess

I keep getting reminded of the map Operation Ghost Train(PLA vs. GB)... we already have a pretty good setup for a train escort game.
