Currently PR has around 12,000 unique players, playing each week and each one playing an average of 2.5 hours of PR in a week.

I see PR as being in a middle beta stage on the BF2 engine. I will be very suprised if the Dev team manages to hack and squeeze everything they want to out of the engine before they move over to PR2. That said, a lot has been done already, it's just that there's so much more they clearly want to do, and that clearly would be good to get done.

I second that.
I think mods like PR just tends to grow for now, as people will realise how SUCKY vanilla games from EA are and how stupid and lack quality.
I can't predict about PR particularly. But what does it matter? It's fun now! Why think about when is it going to be dead, lets just enjoy it ourselves as much as we can for now while it's in full force. Maybe in the future something even better will come out from it, who knows. My focus now is enjoying as much as i can the current release and have a watch in the nearest release, that's been a lot of fun.
Since we are here talking about it, i'd like you guys to check this briliant suggestion for future releases

You should just put that link in your signature rather than actively plug it in threads.
PR isn't at release state yet. A bunch of things that any serious reality mod would need aren't in yet, as well as a bunch of things that are highly desirable for a game to have.

Question: What would happen if PR fans decided to make a complete copy of PR on the BF3 engine? Yes i know it would be alot of work but is PR trademarked to prevent something like this? (I'm not implying that I am considering this. I know nothing about modding[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:BF3 will most likley have little to no long term effects on PR's population, unless either the game itself is realistic (no chance of that) or that a realism mod that outshines PR is made for it (unlikely due to EA's lack of mod support).
BTW as long as the community stands strong PR will survive for years (IMO). One of the things that this mod has that others don't is a community that really wants to see this mod develope to a game that we've been missing since we played our first teamwork based FPS. So remember to refer new players to this forum to make a stronger community.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

providing who ever dose it dose not infringe any copyright laws by calling it "PR" or by using any of PR's assets without full permission from us then there is no reason why anyone can't make a realism mod for BF3, just that IMO it would be stupid too since from what I've seen, BF3 will most likley be a total rubbish platform to make a mod on.Sgt. I'd say more like teenage. PR folks already know how to walk, run, even drive. They even bicker like teenagers.Tophatter94 wrote: So I'd say that PR stages of like is still just beginning. Re: At what stage do you think PR is in?
I doubt PR will ever 'die'. It's the premier Reality mod of sort and it will stay that way until the unlikely event of a company releasing a 'realistic' game, which will be a bad move on their part. Games are made to be fun and easy to play, without a steep learning curve.
Obviously the engine will become dated, but thats where PR2 comes into play. Better Engine, More innovation and possiblities, less limitations.
Will grow for years to come.

Imo as long as hollywood styled game industry doesnt learn that money wise it would be best to make same game have multiple totaly different kind of gameplay designs, they will keep making arcade-gameplay only.. and as long as they keep making arcade-gameplay only, PR is gonna kickass because there is nothing like it =)

If PR had a life-cycle alert scale, It'll be at ZOMG OWNED status right now. 'cause theres no way it can't be winning currently

Re: At what stage do you think PR is in?
12000 sounds pretty good for a 5 year old Game platform modification... there really isnt anything like PR. when game developers make games all they care about is making a generic game that will bring them Money .. ita ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! Dollars and cents ( usd )... sure the developers might have awsome ideas for the next release but its also mostly about the single player experiance. online exeriance usuially always stays on an Arena gameplay agenda. for PR ... Bf2 basicaly is an arena game play experiance with tads of stealthyness and small amounts of tactics. but there is basicaly 0 team work... only squad work Some of the times. Its Very unique and should continue updating to keep intrest the V0.9 features which have been created look AMAZING! i cant even begin to say how greatly they should help the gameplay. its only going to get better from now on untill some game developer creates a foolproof realism game that steals our players away...

The team have a very good idea of how many players log into the game on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. We don't share the exact figures but you're looking at over 20,000 different players a month on average.ma21212 wrote:Kinda offtopic but does anyone know how many ppl play PR? is there anyway to tell? I mean is it more than 40K ppl? cuz we have some 39,962 members on the site so...

The next 3-5 years will probably determine the future of PR .hopefully the time will come that PR either goes comercial or finds a new engine (EGO engine ftw). In this time frame there will un-doubtably be a game created that is similar enough to PR to get the blood flowing.
I for one think the DEVs deserve and earning for what they have created here - and outstanding mod and the best community i have been a part of.

Re: At what stage do you think PR is in?
Very true, but i remember when there was just one server, Gloryhounds and i think it was 32 player, and it was a blast!IAJTHOMAS wrote:At the end of the day, as long as 61 other players are still interested in playing at the same time as you are, what does it matter? You can't be on two servers at once. I remember when there were only two or three regularly populated servers and things weren't any less fun because of this.
PR has a long future.. the population will remain as long as updates are being produced. Once they stop the hardcore (and the poor, due to their PCs) will remain playing PR. For some it's more about gameplay & teamwork than it is about graphics. I can't see a game beating PR for gameplay & teamwork.

Re: At what stage do you think PR is in?
As long as games like ARMA II can not support the numbers or stability to run a good game I do not see PR going anywhere.
I would love to play ARMA II with some sort of spawn system, but no 64+ players support and the netcode they have makes it a no go.
