[0909] Armored vehicles vs incendiary grenade
I was in an M1A2 on silent eagle and a guy threw an incendiary at my tank which made my tank explode in seven seconds.

Woah nice, incendiary power, i remember back in 0.8 on Qwinling i was able to destroy a tank with a single incendiary grenade in 4 secs, was removed in 0.85-87.
Forgive my bad English...

We are not sure what is going on but we are trying to find a solution. There is nothing in the code that we can see that would be causing this.

Re: [0909] Armored vehicles vs incendiary grenade
We had a APC group on Silent Eagle... Engaged a Firebase and succesfully defeated all enemies. Drivers jumped out to burn the remaings, APC were positioned in a defensive ring around the area. Couple of seconds after the Incendinary blew up the crates all APCs started beeping and got tracked with ~30% health (according to a dude, who said he saw the health bar of it)
What the hell is it? Thats a really serious, game breaking bug. When can we expect fix?

I noticed the same thing with a BTR 80 BUT i was very surprised to see that the incendiary had big splash damage. I took damage from a friendly blowing a TOW emplacement while being at least 5m away. I understand that any kind of armor would be melting from high temps, but only on contact (or very close).

Might find a solution in simply only allowing an incendiary to drop at your feet... (Extend fuse timer, decrease max throw distance like the field dressings...)[R-MOD]crazy11 wrote:We are not sure what is going on but we are trying to find a solution. That way it can no longer be used as an "AT grenade" of sorts...

sorry but I dont see how that matters, we're talking about why incendiaries can blow up tanksboilerrat wrote:Why were you standing still?

Yeah but then you aren't able to toss it down a hill or a good distance so you can take out emplacements, FOBs, and such from afar.Celestial1 wrote:Might find a solution in simply only allowing an incendiary to drop at your feet... But I do agree that a thermite grenade should be able to take out a MBT, maybe burn a crater or something in it.. but not destroy it.

Re: [0909] Armored vehicles vs incendiary grenade
Well actually, thermite (or incendiary grenades) burn at a couple of thousand degrees, so when you would throw it on an armored vehicle of any kind, I assume (but don't quote me) that it burns through that armor quite easily. As for throwing them under an armored vehicle, I assume again, that it doesn't do anything. But you should ask a military tech advisor, I'm not sure how they exactly work, like if they explode or just burn through...

I fail to see an issue with preventing players from taking out established defensive positions from a lucky incendiary throw.ZephyrDark wrote:Yeah but then you aren't able to toss it down a hill or a good distance so you can take out emplacements, FOBs, and such from afar.

They should be taking out the defenses/FO after clearing the area.

You could adjust the materials so that inc. grenades don't totally destroy heavy armor.

Just for anyones interest: cast iron does not melt very fast 1inch from melted iron (1600celsius) (i do it every day at work) cast iron is easy to melt compared to special grade metal alloys!
If u do it the other way around....pour melted iron onto a solid iron surface....well...u need alot of melted iron to melt the cool iron..
Ive seen Thermite beeing used to weld rails, the thermite is concentrated by insolating thermal bricks so the heatspread is narrowed downwards to where the weld is needed
All of above i know!
Such concentrated heat cannot be done from something like a loose object laying on top of a tank hull
Since i step over the melted iron at work I know that 1600 degrees is warm, even hot, but just 1 meter directly above an open furnace containing 30 tonnes of the liquid iron I seem to be able to take the heat - so to speak!(my clothes dont catch fire...COTTON) aircooling is awesome when u think of it
of course Im not military and no expert on incendiary, but a grenadeshaped package cannot hurt aheavily armoured vehicle
