Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
The bunkers were lost. Our squad had been wiped off of south village. We respawned in main and jumped in a BMP that was getting ready to roll out for one last assault on the bunker complex. As we approached the hill west of south bunkers we decided to disembark to take a look before cresting the hill. We immediately heard the M1 hiding on the mountain behind us to the west, and then almost immediately the BMP exploded. Our SL and one other guy in our squad were on the far side of the BMP and were able to hide behind the wreck, and the rest of us immediately dropped our kits and threw our hands up. The tanker didn't quite know what to do with the four MEC soldiers surrendering to him. He typed in all chat the we could live if we simply walked back to our main unarmed. As we began walking, our SL hiding behind the BMP wreck lased the tank and called in the Havoc on mumble. Next thing I know the tank is gone and squad comms are overcome with howling laughter. We walked into the bunkers and capped north and south bunkers out from under the US's noses. I guess that's what the tanker gets for being a humanitarian...

Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
I like to see it when the enemy doesnt just immediately shoot the unarmed.
"No mercy!! kill them all!! bla bla" attitude is boring to me, having some interaction with surrendering hostiles in a videogame, i can only think of arma2 as the only other game that has this option, have some fun with it and enjoy it, youll never see it anywhere else... just shooting them immediately is lame I think... sure its your choice but in some cases it can be quite immersive, if theyre no threat than have some fun with them
of course dont be suckered into traps hehe, taking POW's inside a building or unsecured area is never a good idea unless you know what your doing and are prepared to react accordingly
Anyways the unarmed kit was originally designed just so you can quickly swap kits with other squad mates, without needing to be near a request point. Very useful when u gotta switch kits (ie your medic got shot and revived and now needs his kit back). Then we added the civilian hands up cuz we could, and chuc made some salutes for fun.... theres no real plans to make it integrated into the game rules, just a player thing, which unfortunately most of the players have a "kill kill kill" attitude so itll be useless but there is a small hope youll encounter someone who may want to do a bit of roleplay hehe

^^ that is how great additions are created. I'll bet there is a post in the DEV section about making this a useful part of the game.

It works with mumble IMO.
So you can tell the guy what to do and what not.
I heard that when U shoot unarmed soldiers, you lose tickets..
I don't think it's true but can anybody verify?

Those kinda players never can get kills the normal way, so they have to do it when the guy surrenders.[R-DEV]fuzzhead wrote:I like to see it when the enemy doesnt just immediately shoot the unarmed.

It makes them feel better having 1-10 kdr compared to 0-10.

Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
no that not true there is no ROE for unarmed soldiers although I wish
I mean games are made to be entertained and have fun so why not include something very original that other games do not have. It is Project Reality after all so i think it does not hurt to try something new

It's all the rage right now... but I imagine players are gonna smarten up after a month or so of straight-out getting shot. You might as well enjoy it and tak'em hostage -> throw them down some ludicrous pit, or something.
It's stupid stuff like this that often makes the game fun to play: why waste an opportunity?

Had guy in my squad last night that was running around collecting kits. running unarmed and picking up a kit and bringing it to his "cache" dropping it and running for another.

Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
yeah, but I bet he collected 15 kits in just a couple mins. then i guess a few seconds of picking up and dropping and they'd be there for another 5.
He was just doing it to be funny.

Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
i want to take prisoner a brit squad on al-basara now XD
You could through them down into the well, and to torment them, through a hock down, then pick it up, and repeat XD
their only chance of escape would be to be rescued XD
Or suicide...
If only suicide was not an option for unarmed, if they are unarmed, how can they kill themselfs?

Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
The kit will be a great tool for those that want to play scenario missions and the like, but in a regular combat zone there is no reason for someone to throw down their weapon and surrender in the combat zones that PR represents. I'd rather just shoot them instead of having them go pick up a kit they hid in a bush or get rid of the distraction.[R-DEV]fuzzhead wrote:I like to see it when the enemy doesnt just immediately shoot the unarmed.

Plus, they are worth a ticket whether they have a gun or not...
The unarmed kit is still awesome though, and will be fun when goofing around when teams are low or disorganized.

Would be fun to have some kind of prison in the main base to bring these surrendered people to. There you can lock them up, and they'll be stuck there for 5 min or something.

Re: What to do with surrendered players :L
That would be actually sweet, it would keep you from wanting to surrender, but if you do, and you get killed, have like a shorte 10 second spawn =PPuffNStuff wrote:suicide w/ unarmed kit = +2min spawn time

That way you dont know how you will end up XD
