I was really looking forward to the release of .9 because of Silent eagle but;
the the Runways at the abandoned airbase its just unreal, the US air force surely wouldn't allow or even clear an aircraft to land on a runway in that condition. before a runway (especially an overgrown one) in that condition would be used army/AF engineers would clear it.
I can take off in every air asset with proficiency but on Silent Eagle a few times my wing has clipped a tree and i just don't want to fly on that map with a jet unless i am Russian because of the state of the US runways and landing on the US runways is almost suicide i can land on it most times.
could we just have the runways cleared please.

Yeah he makes a good point... usaf would never order their shiny toys to land in such a dirty place...

Well... initially i planned to let engineers repair the airstrip so its easier to take off but that is hardly realizable. I agree that it might not be 100 % realistic, but on the other hand if that kind of situation happened in RL the US forces would need everything they got as soon as possible and maybe take a dangerous runway into account. Also removing all those bushes would make it a normal airfield again which i definitely dont want. I find that boring. I will look into removing a few bushes and trees that are too close maybe but see it as a challenge
Also i never crashed when starting or landing so far and even if im the mapper of this map im not a good pilot really.

You could remove the tall trees between the taxi ways and the airstrips because to grown up a tree that height, the airfield should be abandoned for a really long time ! Small bushes and a tall grass comming out the concrete are ok.

With the kind of range modern jets get they wouldn't need to land even remotely near the actual hot zone. Wellll....Silent eagle is the PERFECT example of the idea that the bases in PR aren't actually where they are.
There is no way they'd do anything but an emergency landing on a runway like that but rather they are flying in from "off map"
I think that it really adds to the ambiance of the map (when I'm not nearly wetting myself landing or taking off so close to so many trees) It does work though.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

Why not make the runway "destructable" and then put its health to 0%, so the combat engineers have to repair it with their wrench? The US airstrip on Silent eagle is a mess, I have crash in the U.S airstrip a few times but only 2 on Online servers, Its hard to land sometimes, The A10 is too big and I have hit some trees in the middle of the runways and that sucks you should let the Engi to fix or remove some Trees that are too near to the runway,
And the other time i crash, I was taking off with the f16 and i collide with a tree and still dont know which one was :/

I agree that at the very least they would cut down any trees on the airport, not matter how badly they need the airbase, before landing their fighter jets there.
However this is a game and the mapper did it for free, so he should not be bullied into making changes if he really likes how the US airfield has come together. Like others said, in real life in the conflict zone would not be any bases to begin with, just assets to slug it out, unless the combat zone is a small Island or something, like Grenada and the aircraft can not land on carriers.

at first i thought it needed to be redone as i crashed the first two times taking off, but after that i hadn't crashed one time. I think the trees should be removed (some of em at least) and maybe shrink the size of the shrubs on the runway so you can see where you're going easier. the only problem i have flying on that map is the stupid 8 second time allowed outside of the map while flying but I'm pretty sure that's getting fixed anyways

I forgot to mention that i have the landing and take off to a Tee now but when i join the server for some reason my loading time has just quadrupled so i join after all the squads are made and it is annoying when you have quite a good CAS team up but they lose the jet on take off or landing... I mean its not like you would have fallen down trees on the runway like it is on SE

It is made for Germany, so Germany's flight rules might be diffrent.

IMO like has been said before, just a few of the big trees need to be removed, there should noly be some grass coming up through the concrete of the main runway

There is just no way any jet aircraft would land on that strip. You'd suck in piece of tree branches and they would rip apart your engine, or you'd damage your wings hitting the small trees.
It's a nice map, but that runway is far from realistic. No one is gonna launch planes worth tens of millions of dollars from a $10 runway.

Well the soviets have like grates in front of the airtakes that allow them to use really bad runways, I think they fold in or something too for after take off.

IIRC the A-10 was created to be used on such low mantained airstrips hence its engines sitting that high up. So I can see it working off that kind of runway, however I am not so sure about the f-16.
