If the commander is doing his job, I don't really care where exactly he is

Just type in all chat saying that your waiting for UAV to recharge so your going to spot for friendlies ^^
@Koroush47, commander is worth 1 ticket. I've tested ^^

I dont want to look through the UAV, it would be nice if anyone could use it, and spot with it.
Then have the commander do his thing, and he obviously could do it too..
I dont use the UAV, since its not fun to me, it might be fun to others ofc.

Flinging is real, teleporting is real.
You can easily recover from a 1000m fling as a pilot, although it can be a bit annoying and difficult to recover from, especially in a huey.
Personally flinging and tele-porting is all nonsense. If you have a problem player you can kill them equally easily, or just warn/kick/ban.
However. A Co, imo, is best suited to be at the main base sitting in his tent. If you need intel, ask your squads, that's what's supposed to happen. If the UAV is down, they provide intel.
How can you expect to actually lead a team from the driver seat of a rover or truck? It's not realistic. But that's just me and my opinion. But hey, whatever floats your stick.
and as for a UAV not being fun? wth? it's the funnest thing a CO does. and easy to do. It's an absolute crucial aspect of a CO's role. If my CO was refusing to use his I's say he needs to join a squad cause he's wasting a crucial asset that the team needs as often as possible.

Yeah, I was flung in a server (I don't recall which one) without apparent reason. I just joined the server, joined a squad, started heading out of the US main in Korengal Valley to link up, and I just got flung into the air, and I was like WTF?!Redamare wrote:HAHa interestinglol yea im sure it was a server thing

Re: Commander teleport script?
since our server got hacked and we had to reinstall everything, we've just now figured out that we have the teleport command on our server, but we haven't used it yet.
what server was that on? we have a no fling policy on our server (45][HP Dallas). our admins aren't allowed to fling non-community members, and not if there are other people on besides us. idk about the teleport script, but excessive flinging will bug the spawns (makes it so you can't spawn)*Gunny* wrote:I really think punishments like flinging are just for the admin's amusement, You also see admins fling people for no reason.

Re: Commander teleport script?
Well, if i ever go into a server, that wont allow me to command my style ill leave immediatly.
And thats just the way the cookie crumbles in PR.
I disagree with the fact that the commanders should stay in the box all day, show me one real life incident of someone commanding a team from their main when they control 32 players?
I mean sure the UAV is fancy and nice to have, but it really gives players that extra feeling of command, when you walk up to a squadleader and tells him to get his *** in gear over mumble.
Its psychological, if the CO stays in his little box, he cant touch me
Well that **** is done and over, i command from the front, and i do it with might and clear orders.
If someone doesnt follow my orders, ill be down their neck quicker than they can say, Unmanned Arial Veichle. Ill be on their squads tale quicker than you can quinch, cause with a team of players that Lead other men, you need to be consistent with what you say and do, you cant say "squad 1 go here" and they say "No" Then go "ok".
Its about leading your team, guiding them using their skills their kits, their roles and movement, to win.
Its really got nothing to do with sitting in a box looking at whats going on and spotting stuff. Thats recon job, and when i signed up to be a commander, i didnt want to be Specops!

Re: Commander teleport script?
In my many years of "reality", I have never seen a CO in the field unless bleachers were set up, something was being tested, and a band was playing.
I know this is a game... I just don't play as commander, not my style. I like to be in the thick with bullets flying and a squad of screaming hooligans behind me. And if I see a commander running around me, it takes my attention off "head on a swivel" mode and into defense of the commander, which is not good because my attention becomes localized.

Why is it somehow your job to protect the commander?HARRISON1973 wrote:In my many years of "reality", I have never seen a CO in the field unless bleachers were set up, something was being tested, and a band was playing.

The problem is that people still think that the commander is some super-special position, when it is actually just a position with certain tools to help the team. The commander can get your team area attacks, put down FOBs, deliver supplies to units in the field, transport people, lase targets, and fight the enemy, of which all but the area attack require him to be in the field. The only reason he is required to be at base is because he is using the UAV.
Short version: if you see the commander out of the base, don't be alarmed and continue about your business.

look at the Battle of New Orleans, in 20 minutes most of the British officers had been killed and they soldiers had no choice but to surrender,
More than 2,000 British had been killed or wounded and several hundred more were captured. The American loss was eight killed and 13 wounded.

Re: Commander teleport script?
You know it's sad when instead of considering the true Battle of New Orleans with Andrew Jackson when I see someone typing about it I think of a bunch of morons in flooded downtown New Orleans with AK-47s and rap music stealing toilet paper and flatscreen T.V.s from Walmart. Especially since one of my main personal interests is historical warfare.DevilDog812 wrote:its because in real life, no commander = confusion usuallly

Commanders need to stay in command, which means in the box doing their job using their tools and conferring with squad leaders to get a better picture of the battle. Either don't go commander or stay in the box. Make your choice.

Re: Commander teleport script?
Well, let me just say one thing, everytime i sit in the box, **** happends and people usually dont follow orders since they feel that since i am just sitting there, i cant hurt them, and they can just mute me.
If im there with them, i can order them to do stuff, and if they say no ill ask what the problem is and fix it for them.
Really, its psychology really, if someone of a higher position that you tells you what to do, and your already doing something else with your mates, youll try to find an excuse to not do it. And if the Commander is in the box, he doesnt know whats going on around you.
But if the commander is there, he usually gets a fair pic of whats going on, and can coordinate the team from the front, seriously. There is only so much a commander can do from his screen of doom, but from the front, being the man incharge and ordering troops around, i cant remember how many times ive done that and won, beats the hell out of Sitting in the box.
And for one fact, i play this game for fun, not just work, sitting in the box is work, leading from the front is fun, and this is a game. So piss off with the stupid attitude that commanders cant walk in the field, the DEVs made this mod not you.

George Washington did not have a shiny command trailer with sat gear, UAVs, digital map and firing solutions screens for mortars/JDAM, and direct voice communication with every squad leader.LithiumFox wrote:CO who lead the charge on the field: George Washington.

If the CO is in the field and I, being a squad leader, need an area attack RIGHT FORKIN NOW, we as a team have 3 choices,
A. Kill the CO so he can spawn at main and waste 35-60 sec
B. CO can suicide and waste 60 sec or more
C. Drive his butt back to main and waste a vehicle and 60sec -3 mins depending on where we are, whether we're under fire, ect...
I chose the have the commander back at main where he can do the most good.
