Commander with more markers!?

Post by Dr.Roy.Mustang »

Is it possible to have 2 markers per minutes? It may sound useless but I believe it is a lot easier to command if we can order two squads at the same.

I don't see why the old method was changed. Was it because of spamming? If that is the case what about "mutiny"? If the commander get kicked out, the map gets clear. How does that sound?

AFAIK it was changed because of BF2's 1.50 patch changed something and this is the best the devs can make it. Not sure if they know how to do 2 placements a minute but if they can they probly will do it, and maybe even change the arty system we have now. :D

Allowing only one marker per minute was DICE's answer to cartillery hacks, so I don't think there is much DEV's can do about it.

I think he is refering to arty hacks in vBF2 where a player could continuously call in arty attacks?

OT: Roy, if you're talking about placing the Enemy Infantry, Enemy Forward Outpost etc. AFAIK it's hardcoded to one minute at a time and is why the SL Radio was introduced.

I thought it could not be changed so I got in the habit of just passing intel to nearby squads using the observe or target mark.
I think it is just as fast and keeps the map from getting cluttered.
I hate a cluttered map.

Yea the marker system was changed in 1.5, but that's why the devs introduced the SL radio.

I don't think adding more markers is possible, just use the target/observe to send intel to the squads.

IIRC in BF2 that's a fixed value that in previous dev posts concerning this topic they confirmed it's hardcoded-ness, but they confirmed that there will be a way around it, IE SL radio.

You guys keep using AFAIK... What does it stand for? Also what does your "hardcodded" mean? Sorry I am not a IT expert so I may not understand these terminology. Yeah, SL radio can assist commander to plot positions. But what if more than one SQ want to report ennemy locations? :? :

Ok, SQ leader were given an 3s marker option on a map... But that is only made for contacts. Or does it cover others ennemy assets?

AFAIK = As far as I know.
Hardcoded = A feature in the game that cannot be changed.

USE THE SL RADIO GUYS.

I swear I'm the only guy who pulls out the radio and calls in enemy positions. You are not restricted by the same time limits as the commander, so you can mark stuff as you see it. Combine the radio with a little sl-sl chatter and you can really help your team's co-ordination in about 10-15 seconds.

With the current hardcoded commander marker, I don't mind the curent system. The ball is in the SL's court, as per usual and it is their duty to get things done. If an SL has the time to tell the commander a grid ref of an enemy and the type of enemy it is, he has the time to use the radio to do the same for the team.

And before I get people asking how:
Pull out radio.
Look towards area of enemy.
Get marker on enemy.
Use marker to gauge distance to nearest 100m.
Using Q rose, click centre and select distance.
Use Q rose again to select the type of target.
Marker appears with text on screen to team.

SL radio has options for markers of lots of enemy assets including 'nfantry, various armor , RP's, FB's' etc

Push your walk key once to make sure that the marker lands on the correct spot.

Use marker to gauge distance to nearest 100m.
You can get it to the nearest 50m. Just right click to use 50m,150m,250m,...
Using Q rose, click centre and select distance.
Use Q rose again to select the type of target.
Marker appears with text on screen to team.

Alright, I will give it a try then when I am leading... It really confusing. I can't get a mark on the ennemy for some reason.
