heres a screen from waaay back in .85 where JohnnyTheIED sets up a great ied ambush on the poles south of the VCP in basrah and takes out the apc without a hitch.
Although his hiding spot is alittle bold, it works...

Just a quick little thing I've found works really really well.

Grab sapper kit, get on a motorcycle, find that isolated stryker, bradley, challenger, whatever, place mine directly behind it, then place IED directly under it, pull back, detonate.

The IED won't be enough to kill it but 9/10 the vehicle will pull backwards after the IED detonation and hit the mine and boom. Kill.

It's great because it works anywhere, anytime whenever the vehicle isn't directly being watched by an infantry squad (I've actually pulled it off a few times with a nearby enemy infantry squad if coordinating with another motorcycle that will be in the opposite direction drawing their attention and gunfire and nixing the problem of motorcycle noise tipping the infantry off---stryker crew usually won't hear it over their own engine noise)

All that has to happen for this to work is for the vehicle to be stationary for about 30 seconds and be lucky enough for them not to look directly behind them when you're coming up. (Ideally you drive up to it as far as possible behind ridge/building)

Thats awesome Nick :D Didnt knew you immortalized that one. My favorite was when i managed to hook one on the blue panel little further up that road (use a pick-up's roof then jump/plug).

Thanks for all the nice words people, its apreciated. I was away for the summer and some more months but im back now. I'll try to find some time between studies, work and friends to play more often and finish the manual :)

oh and P.S: Its not a boldy spot, think about it, whats the first thing a turret gunner will look for after clearing the road? Windows ;) I think I was moving a little bit after I saw i was clear, I love hidding behind small hills or little bumps on the road, extremely hard to spot on first sights, hard to get, and the panorama dont forgive the enemy :)

See you on the battlefield,
Johnny

Exaktly what i do, i love using IEDs, i always make HUGE road bombs with arty IEDs on fallujah west (we need more of those btw).

I some times even put the mines completly exposed in the middle of a road or what ever but sneaky placed enough to hinder them to go to for exampel to the right, and if it is a big "main road" ill do the same on the other side too, so when the apc comes, turns to aviod the mine to the left, the IED is right there and *boom*.. It almost always works.

I also always try to keep alteast one mine or an IED on the side walk if it is big enough for an apc or humV to be rolling on instead of the road.

I can usualy cover the main road on Fallujah with only three or four reload runs at a cache, after that, nothing gets past alive.

But after these changes they did to fallujah we rarely see any americans on the mainroad what so ever so at the moment im looking for new spots to set up these road bombs.

I remember my first (big) IED kill, it was actually a great weapon back in .86 I think. I took out in 1 round 2 Bradleys, 2 LAVs, 1 Supply truck a Humvee. They kept coming into the cache area (and leaving) at 1 road. I started to place mines there to make the road "smaller", and placed an IED between it. First they hitted the brake, drove slowely towards the IED and Boom! Target down.

Very usefull, that mines, use it to make the road smaller so they need to brake, and then you can finish them fast.
We are staying up!

That is a great use for mines actually. You use them as area denial, and to make a funnel for vehicles. They are going along a road and OOPS! Mine, better go around it...BOOM! right over an IED.
I remember someone mentionign that you can place the IED up higher on light poles and what not. Possibly taking out a turret gunner or something.

I have had great luck as a sapper. If you can get up behind a vehicle, throw your mine down, then your IED. Wait a second or two, and blow the IED (kill your self with it, it doesnt matter, no tickets lost)
They will get scared, and drive, then get blown by the mine.
What is REALLY fun, is placing remote IEDs as a blufor using a sapper kit. They never see it coming! Great on fallujah west on the long main road.
