Apache on Archer
Archer is a very good helicopter map. An Apache on the Canadian team would eliminate the ownage of the techies against choppers, because the Mercedeses and LAVs can't take out/or partially eliminate the threat of techies.

Re: Apache on Archer
I've actually seen LAVs used to effectively scare away techie's from an area just with their presence.
Personally an Attack Chopper would just unbalance the map. The chopper would just have too easy a time taking out infantry due to the lack of good cover in the map. Think about it, you'd be stuck in a house for half the round because a apache is hovering 500m away and a LAV is 200m away on a ridge.
If another chopper HAD to be added to the map, it would have to be a LB equivalent scout chopper at the most.

AP rounds vs. the techies work well, and since when did .50 cal do much to a chinook anyways? ALso, in my opinion the CF do very well with their current assets, though a heavy jeep would be nice for the CF, which we know is being produced.

I think there is too much open ground for CAS on archer tbh, nowhere to hide.
and it would definately have to be EITHER LAVs or CAS, both is just unfair.

I thought about an Apache on Archer because of its previous depleyments in Afghanistan, for example Operation Annaconda (even though Canada wasn't there).

And playing as an insurgent is not supposed to be easy. If you want some balance, you could add 1 or 2 quad AA guns near the airport&ins. main.

What I meant is a .50cal transport vehicle or the likes, as an M249 equipped jeep is only really useful against infantry, not vehicles or anything. They need one comparable to the M2 equipped HWMMVHotrod525 wrote:a heavy jeep ? are you talking about RG31 ? cause it has nothing to see with the G-Wagonor even Jeep concept itself lol

I'd rather see an attack chopper on iron ridge or a map like that. I do want an insurgency map that features attack choppers, lots of woods as well as towns, so that sounds pretty much like Iron Ridge.

I mean this is called Project Reality, and in reality, the BLUFOR use airpower extensively in Afghanistan, and will very likely continue to use it this way in the near future. Techies and Sa7s can make sure no Apache will be alive too much if it chooses to hover more than like 2 sec.

Re: Apache on Archer
Operation Archer is based on Canadian Force combat in the A-Stan. And we got supported by armed CH146 and OH-58D Kiowa, Apache are way much more supporting USAr, Brits etc... in other word they are way much more used to protect theyre own army than the CF.Bazul14 wrote:I mean this is called Project Reality, and in reality, the BLUFOR use airpower extensively in Afghanistan, and will very likely continue to use it this way in the near future. Rgr, then a LB with rockets/mgs could suffice untill the real models of those choppers appear in PR.

Re: Apache on Archer
If the Canadians get apaches, then the victory conditions need to be altered to bring it back to being balanced. One possible change to accommodate air assets would be to give collaborators to the taliban, which would punish canadian air assets for shooting everything that moved. I don't think it is possible to make the victory conditions on one map 8 caches, and another 7, but this would allow the insurgents to win if they are somewhat even in combat with the blufor.

Re: Apache on Archer
Archer is a damn small map. You go 15 meters out of the Main base and thats the combat zone. It gives choppers no freedom, only to be raped as soon as they leave the DoD, which is not sufficient to cover a air vehicle staging for a attack. The Chinooks have a hard enough time getting in and out with techincals simply camping the main ALL the time. You want CAS? Give the CF a larger map.Bazul14 wrote:I mean this is called Project Reality, and in reality, the BLUFOR use airpower extensively in Afghanistan, and will very likely continue to use it this way in the near future. Re: Apache on Archer
IMO the Apaches don't work properly in any sense of the word when it comes to insurgency maps, just because the map is inherently set so the Blufor must attack with the Opfor defending. The attack helicopter really fails when it tries to attack or do anything in PR without a FAC constantly relaying a perfect picture of the battlefield.
