Can you rephrase what your trying to say?

Re: GLTD Zoom
The GLTD still has zoom capabilities, so you're doing something wrong

Re: GLTD Zoom
GLTD used to have 2 levels of zoom, one allowed to scan quite a wide area with a zoom level, like binos, while the second, more precise, was usefull for lasing and observing for details like enemy kits etc.
Now GLTD has only the second mode with huge zoom but as a result quite narrow, uhm, arc of view. I belive it was messed up (i guess it wasn't intentional) with implementation of rangefinder.

Ok..made it more understandable I guess
But I think I had my answer:

So I'm not wrong or doing anything wrong. But now the question is why it was changed? Something related with reality issues or was it really unintentional. (which is hard to believe actually)

Re: GLTD Zoom
definately only zooms in once now, noticed this the other day. was easier to use before, so its either an accident or from the same bag of changes as the FOB placement limit thing. unlikely to be lag related, as a few other things have dual zoom functionality, like TOW, APC gunner positions etc.

Re: GLTD Zoom
I only have experienced one level of zoom (super magnification, narrow field of view) with the new GLTD

Re: GLTD Zoom
Not a bug, they have only one magnification level now.
That said, I dont like the removing of the 2 different magnification levels from both sniper rifles and the GTLD. Even if it does reduce lag, it makes the GTLD especially hard to use on pretty much all maps.

Re: GLTD Zoom
Was the extra level of zoom removed to reduce lag? I didn't notice it in the changelog, also, there's plenty of other stuff with more than one zoom level, why was this in particular removed? Unlike APC, tank and TOW zoom, GLTD's are available on every layer of every map, so the negative connotations of removing the double zoom, namely that it's far more akward to use for lasing and marking now, frustrates on a game wide level.
Surely lag isn't the reason, it doesn't make any sense.
I honestly think the .9's are the worst releases in quite some time. The frustrating thing for me is that (as someone else has previously commented) PR has, like some horrible Multinational, come to completely dominate my gaming experience, to the extent that I can't play anything else, so when I can't play PR I can't play anything. Now, as a 26yr old man there is a distinct possiblity that I shouldn't really be playing games anyway, but putting that aside for a moment, I like gaming, and would prefer to continue.
I apologise if this translates as some kind of ungrateful rant, it really isn't intended to, it comes from my heart, because, I do love PR a little bit. The DEV's have created something truly special, it just that of late it appears that they've let themselves go a bit, like marlon brando in Apocalypse Now.

Re: GLTD Zoom
This. GTLD is now quite a pain to use and not really effective as it was because you have to know exactly where is center of your screen to zoom on target and SL has lost ability to scan wider area (unless he has a scope, which can compensate).L4gi wrote:Not a bug, they have only one magnification level now.

Re: GLTD Zoom
I was on Kabala last night as SL and the first level of zoom was good for using as bino`s. On a roof top trying to find where the ins outpost was looking for troop movments and it was way to much zoom to be useful in urban maps as it is now level 2 zoom only.

Re: GLTD Zoom
Trust me. I was pissed about this.
GTLD got butt funked as a work around to zooming lag (not to be confused with network lag). Same a the Sniper rifles. Now this "Zooming" lag only happened on some maps. IE the most resent ones. On older maps like say Kashan and maps of that age, It is not an issue. With the way the new map are made, They had introduce a hardware GFX lag when Zooming between the to levels of zoom. So instead of fixing it. They just chop out the good 1st level of zoom. I Don't know this for sure. But the Sniper rifles that used to have 2 zoom levels now seem to have also got nerfed as the range seems to me like it got shorten. This may not be the case. It just feels like it to me. And I know I maybe wrong on that point.
But that is why the GTLD as been Butt Funked. Due to the new maps not being coded the same as the older ones.
That's what I think.

Re: GLTD Zoom
This has frustrated me a lot as well, and the last couple of days I've been thinking about making a thread about this myself. It's really a pain in the *** to scan an area with the GTLD now. So much that I now find my self skipping this part at times.
To the developers; please bring back the 2x zoom for the GLTD or I'll go hang myself in the basement

Re: GLTD Zoom
this I thought too but could not be sure. if it is then it really sucks. snipers already have bad camouflage disadvantage and now they even need to be closer.Oddsodz wrote: I Don't know this for sure.
