Radios in buildings

Post by boilerrat »

Specifically speaking on maps like fallujah and Ramiel where we are pretty much fighting in an evacuated town.

Lets say the government in that area forced all civilians out ASAP because fighting began between insurgents and blufor they wouldn't have time to turn off radios and TVs.
Because these people would grab anything unreplaceable and just run out of there for safety.... imagine if your house was on fire what would you grab and do? Certainly not turn off the radio.

It would add some atmosphere if we had some music in some buildings playing.
The music shouldn't be extremely loud, just enough to hear it as you walk by a building and slowly fade away as you get farther.

It should be less extremist music and maybe some guitar playing or traditional music.
Possibily even a fake broadcast warning the citizens to evacuate their area, as fighting has been sighted near by.
Or even play some of the PR soundtrack simulating the people getting signals from UK or other places.

Discuss.

lol if you really want music ingame then just put itunes on and turn the effects down. If you were going to have radios then you would at least have news or something like that. I can just see it now people walking around the street trying to listen out for footsteps but instead all they can hear is a damn guitar. As you can probably tell i really dont see the point of this :P

Adds atmosphere and realism to a ghost town that we play on.

I agree its these things that really puts a game/mod above the rest gives alot more atmosphere to a relatively lifeless maps. No offense to the mappers its just how that generation of games are.

And telecam its not like it will be boomblasters that pumps out music, its more like a mixed low sound when you enters some of the houses.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

In forgotten hope 2 there is a map where the Germans defend against Brits with tons of AT emplacements on a grassy sunny map.

There is an officers building by one of the flags for Germans that has an old record player.... The music fades in and out with distance and when I went inside It felt real and I stood there and listened until I got shot.

So this is possible, and I love that map because of the civilian aspects... there are bicycles and bedrooms and such.

It didn't feel like we are playing at a paintball arena where there is just buildings, like we are now. It felt like we were fighting in an evacuated city.

Not a bad idea...
Probably a low priority, but it WOULD be pretty neat to hear some music to add atmosphere in some city maps.

don't forguet the doors making that nosy Wiiinnngggggg, and dust roling out the the roads has well.

But even this sugestion is quite good, i thick it's is a waste of time to do this, since PR DEVs have things more worthy things to do.

saying the city maps are incredibly lifeless, we are playing in a city that has been evacuated of civilians.

I wanted to suggest something like this to keep that idea in mind. The radio is reminding us that this is a real city not a ghost town.

It adds to the atmosphere a lot.

well why dont we go the whole hog and put in real shops, people in the street- the list goes on. This is just a mod people make in there spare time i really think time could be better spent in other areas.

Thats why I suggested something simple.

So if you want to have that argument, then we should shut the suggestion forum down.

Because we can't have that new weapon, since this is just a mod

because it will be reallt hard to do, and really lag also. the sugestion off a ghost also give the boys how play more nerves about spoting and taking care of they moves, it's something spoky, and a spoky senario will help's people geting good levels of attetion.

i suport this ideia, tough i kwon there are thing better to do. if something must be did about the ghost towns is that sugestion, since the engine don't allow placing civilians at all. not at last wicht few modifications

I am a suported at all of atmosfere things, since PR those days is becoming a cold game (compared to other games of course), when you don't feel much the emotion of atmosfere at all and something must be donne about it.

ITs not hard to do its called ambient noise and you have it on Silent Eagle and maybe Korengal Valley with the barking dogs and the jet sounds dont know if they are still there, but this will help incredibly on the maps making it like something more then a cluster of houses.

And Telecam your just acting like a idiot atm sounds are something they can add and it will not take that many hours compared to other things, Adding people and making new houses is a completely different thing.
