Post by Robbi »

Tacticalgamer password night this Sunday (May 23)

Image

Thanks to RoyalMarinesJoe and fuzzhead for helping us with this! We will be running the map during Password Sundae, maybe a few times.

Jabal 2 Beta Test Client Files:
http://realitymodfiles.com/ancient/buil ... _setup.exe

Install instructions:
simply run the exe, verify its pointing to the correct BF2 install path, that's it.

Password:
Go to Tactical Gamer - The PREMIERE community for mature gamers for the password, it can be found on the TG Teamspeak server / Mumble Channel or in their forums.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS MAP IS STILL WORK IN PROGRESS AND IS IN BETA STAGES, IT'S NOT A FINISHED OFFICIAL PR MAP!!

See you there

Did you, by any chance try to join at 62/64 players?

Was fun! The gameplay and concept was amazing even if it was harsh and unforgiving.

But there were a LOT... of bugs.

Lots of floaters, terrain not matching the sidewalks elevation, lots of non-sense in building placement (especially the afghan_north statics in the city).... Overall the city and certain villages need a lot of work and fixing.
The underground sewer'ish thing was buggy as hell, using the trench_cover like stairs isn't a good idea IMO and you get stuck inside the water pit next to the manhole if you wander trough the tunnel.
I love how the bell_towers were used, not the shacks though, a lot of them were placed in awkard spots. The general mish mash of buildings came out either like win or fail.

Beaches are beautiful, love the rocks and grass... The surroundings of the city is also amazing, the grass is useful and detracts from the Kashan'ish feeling of the map's desertic weather. Dam is okay, though the fighting centered mainly around the mines west of it... But might be AASv3's fault?

It seems like a balanced map asset wise. I'm not sure if planes (for MEC) would do the map any good, would need more testing to know.

Oh and lol at the floating hut floating in the sky, in the middle of the ocean.

Last round was a harsh one, but it was fun. It really felt like Kashan, yet felt like something else.. But we sure lost the feeling Jabal Al Burj had. Can't tell what, maybe the sky? :p

Thanks TG for the PW night! :D

Hope all these new 4k maps in development don't take away from the intensity of infantry fighting in PR atm, but from what I saw Jabal 2 seemed to be pretty decent for infantry. Hope it stays that way! :)

i agree, the large distances with transporting infantry, togheter with APCs and CAS and helicopter transports gives the perfect amount of action and planning requierd for a good game of PR.

Yea, this map is pretty good its needs some good coordination. There are some WIP flaws like the underground bunker area with bugged passages but the overall layout is perfect!

TG is full at 62 players (2 reserved slots) if you try to join at 62+ it will give you a message saying you were banned for TKing or some such, but you are not really banned. Are you sure that's not the problem?

I really don't think you have to worry about that, the round I had yesterday was spent entirely as infantry and it was mighty intense at times.

This has all the makings of a great map, thankyou TG, Joe and Fuzz for giving everyone the opportunity to test it out it was a blast.
