This thread NOT about why we shouldnt, its about ways we can. Leave the "no one want it" comments out..

Re: [Code] Fast Roping Workshop
im not saying "i dont want it", im saying that times required to "freeze" or hover the chopper and to drop the fastropes and for inf to repel down shouldn't take to long, otherwise fastropes simply wont be used.

Im not going to make you want it, but there is places where choppers cant land (Like in between buildnings and trees). These places would be no big problem if we had fastropes.Imchicken1 wrote:im not saying "i dont want it", im saying that times required to "freeze" or hover the chopper and to drop the fastropes and for inf to repel down shouldn't take to long, otherwise fastropes simply wont be used.

with no collision mesh on blades, and the fast ropes coming down from the side of the chopper if you can fast rope into it, you can land there.CCCode wrote:Im not going to make you want it, but there is places where choppers cant land (Like in between buildnings and trees). Choppers (without blades too) are far wider than a human sliding down a rope so no.gazzthompson wrote:with no collision mesh on blades, and the fast ropes coming down from the side of the chopper if you can fast rope into it, you can land there.

this ain't the question...
the collision can't be changed due to legacy reasons. we could only fix that problem with a new UH-60 model...

Re: [Code] Fast Roping Workshop
no its col1 and its harder than you think, just adding a col1 to the rotors (which in fact they already have) dosen't do anything to the chopper "bumping" into other objects, its a little bit more than that and there is really no point in me going into detail on how to do it.

Re: [Code] Fast Roping Workshop
A way is to just put a thin cylinder with the same diameter as the blades so yuo dont have to do the cod for all the stuff.
But yes i have no idea how its done so i dont really know...

Re: [Code] Fast Roping Workshop
col's have been discussed about the choppers more time than fastropes afaik within the team, so i'd take Rhino's comment as truthfully honest

You slide down the side, the width of the chopper (if anything a little wider than the chopper to clear it). if you can fast rope, you can land/hover close enough for troops to bail without losing health.

Re: [Code] Fast Roping Workshop
Well, not necessarily. It can be done with 1 rope off one of the sides of the chopper (like your second pic) That means you would only need enough room for the rope and the player..gazzthompson wrote:http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2006/11/ ... x440,0.jpg

It still dosent change the fact that fastropes would have very limited use in PR though. (Other than being 1337

@ Gosu-Rizzle and CCCode :
Please stop argueing !
In this topic the real "need" ore "sense" of fastropes won't be discuessed.
I repeat again: We (especially Hjid) are trying to make it work somehow...
thanks !
