Pubber just a name for noob?
I will start by saying I know its not but I see this word used all the time to mean noobs.
sentences like these.
Pubber teams rarely know what there doing,if your on a server full of pubbers you must expect crashed choppers TKs and no tactics.
Now the above is both true and false.Alot of the community are pubbers also many retard are pubbers also.above can be true of clans also.
Basicaly anyone who dont wear tags is a pubber right?
The question is is there a certen stigma to being a pubber rather than being in a known clan?
I think it is alot harder to prove your a good player without tags like if I for example had [insert random pr clan name here] tags peaple would assume I could play right?

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
(Uses PRT as example below)
Pubber was referring to how they were playing in a Public setting, rather than in a private tournament or clan based setting, where as a PRT member was usually thought to have a higher understanding of the game, a better value to playing the game, and much more experience in how to use the weapons to their advantage than the standard pubber.
Usually, that is not the case, but occasionally you can tell through how they squad lead or command. Some well known and actually good members of the PRT are quite full of leadership, and almost make you feel like you are playing a realistic protrayal of the game.
Pubbers just refer to people who either do not partake in PRT, are not a Dev or Mod or Tester, or are not well-known enough around the PR community
EG. Rudd_Medicman is a well known forum guy, as far as i know
Eg. PepsiMachine, L4gi, and P.Funk are well known from PRT, as well as EddieReyes (MOD)
Eg. Any Dev would probably not be considered a pubber, as they made the freakin game. XD
And like below, also refer to clans...
But a lot of the times if you see a PRT guy using it, they usually use it for ALL people. XD
Doesn't generally mean you have to be a part of a clan to not be considered a pubber. Even clans are considered if they don't give a ****. =/

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
Yeah I would say anyone who is not wearing clan tags is a pubbie or pubber, and I would agree that it is the general view that most 'pubbies' are noobs. Obviously, not all players are, there are a lot of people who are bad that play in clans.
What I would say is that teams with clans on them generally are more organized. When it comes to team-wide tactics, often a full squad of said clan are going to follow their SL'S orders and be more co-ordinated. This is not to say that clanless players are not, but on the whole clans and teams that play a lot of battles/scrims/prt have a good understanding of battle tactics, and most likely are to be people that play the game a lot.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
A "Pubber" Is a Random Player that is not in a clan, or is in a clan but alone, or in low numbers in a public server.
"Pubbing" is the use of a Public server
To "pub" is to go and use a public server
People do look up to clans for guidance, since they often have organised themselves around PR, and will often develop tactics to become the best clan.
If a person is in a clan, but without a prefix, this may be that they are A) Not wearing their tags, or B) Using another account without tags.

I've seen plenty of clannies who are jerks, and plenty of pubbies who are really awesome team players. Nothing shameful in not being in a clan, PR players are generally a cut above the rest when it comes to teamwork and skill.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
Um no....pubbers came from games aeons ago(CS 1.6 etc) reffering to people who just played public games, ie 'lets just pub', as opposed to pugs and ladder matches. PR didn't coin the term.LithiumFox wrote:Actually, pubbers was a term that came from the Project Reality Tournament because of the higher standards set, and the fact that they practice quite often on tactics and teamwork.
Pubber was referring to how they were playing in a Public setting, rather than in a private tournament based setting
:working on more, don't wanna be ninjad
But in PR, he is correct in saying it is reffering to those who usually either don't give a dam about teamwork and just 'pub'.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
Usually the "pubber" part is used in reference to how they don't act as team players
Eg. Lonewolfs
PR is a team based game, and sadly, people are starting to lose focus of that as the DEVS are starting to Nerf everything... =(
(about as bad as Blizzard T_T)

Hence why the term is redundant as it refers to both sides of the coin.Stoic Sentinel wrote:Well as BloodBane said, I know a lot of pubbers who are excellent team players.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
i think that mostly means in a server full of pubbers (in a server opening to the general public, the untagged/unknown public. in other words they could be anyone who play however.) when they say expect crashed choppers, tks etc. it's not that pubbers are noobs. its that in a public server no one goes in organized so it's hard to have teamwork when no one knows each other. in terms of tks...well private servers would probably boot all of them so pub servers are where they end up. noobs crashing choppers, since it's open to general public who knows who's gettin in those thingsTrooper909 wrote:I will start by saying I know its not but I see this word used all the time to mean noobs.

it simply refers to people who are currently playing in a public server, like me!
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
Been playing myself for many years now and ask these questions out of pure curiosity as for the all the years playing I have never experienced being in a clan or PRT.
For me peaple allways assume im a noob im a pubber who dont/cant use a mic.Noob alert right?
Thats why I never bother to join a clan or do PRT im not the best individuel player but I think im a great team player and willing to do anything asked of me by my SL and thats what matters in this game.

unless you can't speak, then you can tell people you have no voice so a mic wouldn't do you any good. lol.

Its just limmets me on what roles I can take like for example I will never SL or join a tank squad.I just play any squad member role and I mean I can play any role well in a good squad. As a pubber though I must roll the dice of getting a good SL.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
Easier idea:
Sound Proof Room.
XD lol
Anyways, you could at least use the mic to say "Hey, my effing kid is asleep. STFU"
....what they should do is come up with night school... but i guess that would lead to even MORE child predators... D:

It doesn't matter. I am pubber. All my friends play PR as a pubber. Being in a clan is not a requirement in PR. Being a temaplayer is all that matters.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
pubbers just describes players who aren't part of any kind of regular organised gameplay, this can take the form of a clan/tourney or just regular server members.
when we get a few mates together we are going 'pubbing' "fancy pubbing on UKWF?" etc, its basically the gaming version of a pub crawl to an extent

Funny never heard of them, but I do call a guy who does not do teamwork a noob. This Pubby stuff is all a trend popping up from maybe one server.

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
That's probably basically it. When I use the term it's generally to mean players who are unknown to me and assumed to not be good teamplayers. A pubbie is guilty until proven innocent. It does not necessarily mean 'noob', however.LithiumFox wrote:Usually the "pubber" part is used in reference to how they don't act as team players
I'd say anyone I've played with at least once or see quite often on a server I don't consider a pubbie(although I might consider them something else after that
In essence, it refers to the faceless, unwashed masses. Yes I'm elitist, get over it

Re: Pubber just a name for noob?
For a start the term is NOT "Pubber", it is "Pubbie" and all it is is to describe the average player playing the game (in this case PR). Skill is not a factor.
