Hey man I'm just getting your perspective, I trust other's perspectives, its usually the one I cant think of on my own.

Anyway, when can you have a script ready for me? I dont care what it's about, I just want to make sure that there is something going to through the pipes.

Any join the XFire community and post on the Youtube channel, and PM ME FOR GOODNESS SAKE!

I still need to compile the lists.

There is a video hosting software that's basically a youtube clone I'll put up. Commenting, indexed videos, blogs, the works. Ideally I'd like to get ahold of a realitymod.com subdomain -- i.e. video.realitymod.com -- but I can purchase one for this purpose if it's necessary

You're not asking in the right spot.
You'd need to ask an Official Rep of BSS.

But We need to stop doing things twice.
Ace has a you-tube channel for us
And an X fire community.

We will use the X fire event scheduler to decide when we will have a " Meeting " Over that Team-speak we where offered to use and set dates of when to record the bits.

Making a site dedicated to this might not be the best way to make it accessible.

Accessibility?

Youtube

Pros
- Everybody knows it exists
- Already exists
- Incredibly accessible

Cons
- Channel style of youtube is confusing and has no indexing at all for videos
- No easy way to collaborate
- No way to separate videos into categories (Gameplay, Basic Tutorials, Advanced Tutorials)

Realitymod Video Site (PHPMotion script)

Pros
- Indexed videos (Gameplay, Basic Tutorials, Advanced Tutorials, etc.)
- Skinnable
- Ability to host pictures as well
- Complete control over the site
- Blogging system
- Collaboration ability (forum communication)

Cons
- Doesn't yet exist
- Needs advertised (can be done in signatures)
- Paying for domain name(?)

I'll contact a Realitymod rep and see if I can get permission to use the copyrighted materials for the design of the site and maybe a subdomain.

However for some reason, whenever I try to record video in my game, the result is laggy, not synced, and of utterly poor quality.
Use Battle Recorder.
Set your capture Program to get atleast 30 fps and record. It will still show 30 in the video, usually.

@ Star

We will still need a youtube channel.
I changed my mind a site might do the trick.

Just Do a good job.

But we will still keep the Xfire and Youtube as a basic form of distribution, or atleast for a teaser of are work.

It would be a great asset to be able to put the BSS and PR intro videos in, the subdomain would be even better.

I expect they'd want A) proof of concept, that there is serious interest and effort being put forth, B) A way to offset additional server costs. A good middle ground might be to see if we could get a series of youtube videos listed, perhaps under the media or guide button.

Again, this will come much later.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

Yes, yes. Good stuff. Well are there 'groups' allowed in this forums? We could really work on the PoC now, see if we get the support/feedback, and then wait until .92 to do it. However, this will also be a work in progress until PR is in a final state (never since PR Arma is just beginning and signs point to PR 1.0 to not be the end).

I think it could work to have these videos in a recording manner similiar to the two perspective video one of the devs made of a Falujah round. For example, in the Medic tut, you'd see the perspective of the guy shot, the medic, the supporting infantry covering him. Not necissarily all at once though.

------

If attempting a PoC we could also try out 'styles' of presentation.

What I would like to see is something that is RPing in some sort of way, kind of like the FH2 Tutorial trailers. However, it'd be silly to focus too much on that aspect. I think it would be enough to just simulate a real round, with VOIP and Mumble communications, but still have a 'narrator' describing the events and what is going on (maybe like a "history/Military channel" show).

Perhaps the tutorials could be organized in such a way as having a larger story connecting them thus having a hook and incentive to watch all of them?

Beyond this alot of planning will be required. We'll need to organize at least six people, an editor, and recording sessions (server/'actors').

I can edit videos well and I can make a uniform introduction. Can we get someone with a decent voice to narrarate?

I can't take videos well due to the quality of my system.

Very Good Gentlemen

Throughout the presentation we should think about using, at all times, mumble so that players think its an integral part of PR, because if it isnt, it should be.

PoC - Styles

Introduction to PR: I would like to use my old script to show players why I came to PR in the first place. we don't have to use my script, and we dont have to do this at all, however I think it would be a great recruiting tool to form a basis for turning over to PR.

For Beginners - Lets make it fun and concise, with intermittent shenaniganery. I would like to lead the way for this part as I love Shenaniganery in games and I love to teach. A combo I simply cant refuse.

For Intermediates - more serious, more advanced editing. I think this should focus upon squad leaders, commanders, and light vehicle usage.

For Experts - Heavy Assets, Sniper kits (Ralfidude is being volunteered for this), and all the ins and outs of CAS, as well as FOB placement and other advanced items.

---

YT, hit me up in a PM and look up the XFire group i think we already have our core, and I have calnmates as extras.

Mat, you too, apply for the XFire group Project Reality Tutorials

Were almost formed.

Peace

Xfire and I don't really get along, sorry. If anyone else has passing comments on topics for basics videos, please share them.

Sounds like a great idea. I can get footage if you would like. Unfortunatly voice acting is beyond me. Plenty of people scream when the hear my voice.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make this. For everytime I find out my pilot doesn't know how to drop crates, fly upside down, or use the map, I die a little inside until I remember how I asked what was the button to get in vehicles in PR because I didn't understand how you had to be in certain spots to enter, when thinking of that I feel better. But honestly, if this actually got done it would be very good.

Uploading a proof of concept now, I'll edit in the link. I have to get a new mic before I can get any voiceover work done, so the first one is pretty much just installation related.

Edit: Haha, oh wow, the preview frame could not be more perfect. That's in game, not pre video.
I'll have to fix that ingame resolution problem too :S

you dont need to patch to 1.41, 1.50 is all you need chief.

But yeah, good PoC.

When are you getting XFire or TS3, we need to be able to talk instead of type everything out.

I've already got a solid core set up, I just need you to be officially in the loop.

EA official Blog Grab the download from one of our ranked server hosts and mirror sites, You will need Battlefield 2 updated to v1.41 before you can install this update
Sorry, gonna side with the people who made the patch ;)

Working on the rest of the scripts now.

I have seen many cases where if you did not install 1.41 first, bf2 did not work correctly

I should have known we had an Ace Combat fan in our midst from seeing your avatar, but I didn't notice it. It became clear to me the instant I heard the music -- it was one of the briefings, right? Not my favorite.

"Operation Bunker Shot" and "Aquila" for the win.
(YouTube - ACE COMBAT 04: Shattered Skies OST - 20. Operation Bunker Shot (2001) - YouTube - ACE COMBAT 04: Shattered Skies OST - 13. Aquila (2001))

My favorite all-time track from the series though must be Scinfaxi/Hrimfaxi. (YouTube - Ace Combat 5 OST Disc 1 Scinfaxi)

Hail, good sir, for good taste in console games and OSTs!
