Vehicle dust trail increase

Post by Arnoldio »

Its drawing distance is quite small and it would look nicer if you could see that from further away.

Dont know how hard would it hit the preformance though.

And thats about it really. :D

sounds good to me.Another thing we need is to increase the dirt kicked up by the the main canon of a tank ;)

Kind off like in my movie :P , although that was made with a particle system outside of BF2..

Think it will not add much though, however it looks great. My smoke is probably not that realistic, but it shows the general idea.

Quite alot. Even if not FPS it would affect the rendering of other effects. But maybe it could be optimized...

I don't think it's too good of an idea. Sure it would look nice, but is this detail really worth wasting performance on? PR is already pushing the engine limits, in my personal opinion, this'd take more than it'd add.

considering the number of people who complain about PR being too resource intensive, I don't see this happening.

You are right, even i lag when theres 2 tanks infront of me

Its just eye candy, but as you said unless it has little impact it would be bad...

I'm probably wrong here, but I guess this would affect the ghost dust trails that appear x hundred meters in front of vehicles when the server lags for a sec, making it even easier to see vehicles coming in without actually seeing them.

Could you just make it so that the trail is only increased if a certain video setting is on high?

hotrod, be nice.

the question is what would this bring?

nothing much tbh, it would look cool.

what would it cost? particle effects are always a major problem.

If it's possible to link it to a high video setting, I'm not against it.

But otherwise - We all know that BF2's engine wasn't meant for a game this huge and detailed. It takes a good system to run PR on high without any problems. And not everyone can buy a new computer every two years.
