Keep it simple

Game mechanics with proper gameplay, whats all noobs need.

Basics
- Weapons and usage
- SL and SM behaviour, basic squad mechanics
- Assets

Advanced
- CO
- Usage of gadgets in special ktis. (Claymors etc.)

This can all be covered in fairly small amount of time while someone is narrating.

Example.

You can see the squad getting ready to cross the street, lets listen to them

- "AR, deploy here, cover the street, X guy cover his back. Stack up, we will move one by one. Cover down the street when you get there. On my mark..."

Or

The squad will come in contact with enemy shortly, lets see what their reaction will be.

- "Shots fired at us!"
- "Where from?"
- "Sounded like E-SE"
- "Everybody take cover! I see them on the balcony, Rifleman, draw fire and supress while AR is getting deployed. I want medic and rifleman to stay back and supress, specialist and other rifleman, move with me on the flank."

One fireteam supresses while the other one is moving down the flank.

- "Keep surpessing, were entering/fragging"
- "Roger"
- "Stop supressing, we got them all, move to us, we will cover from here."

Lets se what happens when supressing element isnt doing their job.

*Shows enemy firing back at the supressing element, and when the attacking fireteam shows up they open up on them too*

Also in my opinion it would be best to record from someones first person to get the audio, and then record in BR and mute lower down the BR audio to near zero and overlay whole thing with the first person audio and sync everything. That way you hear everything and people get a bigger picture of the area and squad movement ( top down footage).

One of the main problems of PR is stupid SMs and you cant do anything about it, tutorials like these would help.

Fair enough ^_^ (though I didn't include the narrator/explanations that'd be given during the video) Also I think their is a little lost in translation: Stress getting a good squad leader isn't meaning make the players stressed, just narrate that a Good Squad Leader is more important than a good squad, emphasize is a good word too.

I suppose it did cover many mechanics in a haphazzard way. Ah. Then maybe for the tut we'd take Chiz's style where its focused on one aspect (Squad Manuvers).

The idea with a PoC is to get us all on the same page and to see what we can and can't do. A PoC will not be the first Tutorial, instead its the framework to which our tutorials will be made if its recieved well.

So a PoC could most definately be the Medic Tutorial as that would offer us a rehersal for when .92x comes out.

just a quick note YT, Collaborators only enter ROE when they pull out their Epipen or resuscitate hands, use a vehicle, or a weaponized kit in the past minute. Also, if an insurgent drops his kit and has been weaponless for one minute, they are now carry the penalty of the ROE if shot. The cell phone does not make a collaborator/civilian(unarmed kit) able to be shot.

I can be a video editor. I do that a lot and my last internship (6 months) was all about editing videos. I can even do voice-overs since I have a good enough mic here. Also have After-Effects skills so I could make an animated intro or some text bar effects whatnot.

As far as my project is going, I have written and refined scripts for:
  • # Basics on Project Reality: Key concepts, Major differences between PR and VBF2{Concise; functional, ignore graphical updates in instructional videos} Installation Guide, Choosing a server, Alternate Control Setups, Mumble
  • # Orientation: HUD elements, AAS objectives, INS objectives, Setting short term round goals, Setting long term round goals, Check in with your SL or CO, Basic Kit Overlay, Receiving and following orders in base, Obtaining requested specialty kits, Getting to the field of battle
  • # Arrival and Contact: Basics on Friend/Foe recognition, Deviation info, Fire/Maneuver concept overlay, Cover basics, Urban Operations basics, Open Area basics
  • # Basic Kit Info: Rifleman Optics/Irons basics, Combat Medic basics, Officer KIT info (Separate from SL 101) Rifleman Specialist basics, Scoped LMG basics (roll the Irons LMG in here as well, including how to obtain it)
  • # Advanced Kit Info: LAT/HAT Deviation/Preptime/Accuracy, Grenadier basics, MANPADS basics, Sniper/DM Differences/Intended uses/deviation/sighting in/shot followthrough, Crewman info, Pilot info, Combat Engineer Explosives/Wrench basics.
  • # Basics on Vehicles: Identification, Armament Types

Scripts are written in various draft forms covering:

  • # Basics on Vehicles: Identification, Armament Types
  • # Fast Movers and Jeeps: Intended Use, Demonstration[Driving], Demonstration[Gunning]
  • # Commander Trucks: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Driving]
  • # APCs: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Driving], Demonstration[Gunning]
  • # MBTs (Main Battle Tanks): Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Driving], Demonstration[Gunning]
  • # Aircraft Basics: Types, Intended Use, Armament Types, Identification, Basic Flight Conceps
  • # Small Helicopters: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Flying], Demonstration[Insertions/Removals], Demonstration[Weapons]
  • # Transport Helicopters: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Flying], Demonstration[Insertions/Removals/Resupply]
  • # Attack Helicopters: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Flying], Demonstration[Weapons], Demonstration[CloseAirSupport/LaserGuidedMunitions]
  • # Fighter Aircraft: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Flying], Demonstration[Weapons], Demonstration[CAS/LGM], Demonstration[Survival]
  • # Ground Attack Aircraft: Abilities and Limits, Intended Use, Demonstration[Flying], Demonstration[Weapons], Demonstration[CAS/LGM], Demonstration[Survival]
  • # Infantry/Vehicle Co-op (Aircraft): Demonstration[Insertions/Removals], Demonstration[CAS/LGM]
  • # Infantry/Vehicle Co-op (Ground): Demonstration[Insertions/Removals], [Demonstration] Close Coordination in an Urban Environment, [Demonstration] Close Coordination in an Open Environment.
Scripts covering the following are still not past the concept form. I'm terrible at both, so I'm really only doing them as I learn from people in a server
  • # Squadleading 101: Your squad is a tool and that's a good thing, Situational awareness, Integrating into the overall battleplan, Rallypoint basics, Marker basics
  • # Commanding 101: Your whole team is a set of tools, and that's a very good thing, Command Vehicle basics, UAV basics, Area Attack basics, Command marker basics
Additional topics that will need to be covered, but will not be started until the next release:
  • Mortars 101: Receiving a target, calculating distances and trajectories, round identification and intended uses, adjusting fire
  • Map Overviews: A small, 30-60 second rundown on the various maps of PR. Data will include layer asset layouts and alternate gamemode types, as well as introductions to major landmarks for visual navigation.
  • Space reserved for other developments: There are undoubtedly additional topics that will become relevant to new players. Scripts for these will be written as issues arise and are identified
I have also...procured.. some additional software, namely the Vegas 9 suite. Additional updates still pending.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.
