There has been included a new grid system that can be used for measuring distance, each kp block is 100m as far as i remember.

When in vehicles 3D markers still show, but for infantry they're getting the boot and being replaced by the small arrow that appears on the compass at the bottom of the screen.

Jaymz broke them, so now you have to use grid markers and this:

That's a nice idea, actually. So mortars don't actually directly see the distance? Or do they count as vehicles?

Ohh, okay so this is probably what they haven't revealed / thought would make alot of whiners. I'm not too worried about it, as long as I can have voice communication with the people around me, I'm good.

Actually a while ago I posted about speculations of 3D markers being removed/changed, and it was confirmed by quite a few devs...

Oh, nice. So maybe it's not the change, because as far as I'm concerned, it's not a game-changing change. I checked out that thread when you had made it, just never went back to see after all the Dev's responded.

Nice find. Guess that's the Mosquill's "OMG" feature everyone was wondering about. Time to raise the forum alert level.
That's quite a realistic improvement, as a huge marker user (SL and armored vehicle driver) I'm curious to see how it will change the gameplay.
Many thanks to everyone involved in the making of the best videogaming experience ever !

Well, thankfully it's still in armored vehicles (even on voice I still mark the are then tell my gunner.) This picture from the 'beta screenies' shows that:

Also is that a bradley on Karbala? (Instead of tank?) Hopefully for multiplayer not just coop.

So hopefully we will hear something like:
Enemy top floor, 3rd window from right!

instead of:
Enemy on teh marker...

looks soo good.
And a pen and paper next to computer while manning a mortar :)

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear, but apparently they're still present in vehicles (and mortar is, in BF2 terms, a vehicle).

Maybe in the future we'll see that.

I wouldn't be that sure, look at this one : http://imgur.com/nCvbg.jpg, it's the same vehicle involved (Bradley), the minimap proves their is a live marker but it only shows on the compass.
Your pic probably comes from an older beta.
