Squadleaders with this mentality should get a beating. Players with this mentality should go back to Karkand.
And people who can't read when threads were created should too get a beating.

For the record, this argument is still entirely true even with the -30 tickets from a flag being taken.

War is hell. Whatever your goals of success are. It usually involves killing enemies. People usually measure a wars intensity or size by the number of people who were killed. Therefor killing is essential in any fps game, including PR.

1. You forgot to include an argument

and

2. This thread is ooold, but more pertinently a bit out of date considering the new ticket penalty for losing a flag.

I agree with OP. Kills are more important then flags and they bloody should be. Or are we all playing Russians? In real war the amount of soldiers does not get instant replaced, they also can't spawn at the front line. If you loose a company number soldiers attacking then they are gone, you might be "out" of troops. To then try to argue that taking flags is more important then conserving manpower and firepower is not viable, try to argue that logic with Sun Tzu! Especially not when the ratio of power is 1:1 like it always is in PR. In real war you don't attack if you don't have a 3:1 advantage, which you never have in PR.

Also flags are unrealistic, what is important on a battlefield changes and isn't the same for both factions. See my other thread. But this is no reason to play defensive, often a good offensive can cause more kills since you can concentrate a larger amount of firepower then static defenders can. Thus even in kill oriented gameplay teamwork and offense matters, expect that you have to think how to best kill the enemy and not like now cow-rush magic flags put down by god in to the ground at random.

And if you have a good offensive you can always blitz the enemy, i have seen countless games won with a team that managed to use teamwork to kill the enemy then use mobility to fast cap to the bleed flag.

I personally hate flags, especially when the halt the entire teams advance to simply clear a position that is already clear, for example, kashan desert, or Muttrah city. MEC on muttrah will spend like 5 mins capping all the points when if they simply rushed docks they would have a huge advantage

same on kashan with both sides, i always head to the enemy's first bunker flag.

the further you go at first the more space you have to fall back and the less space you have to clear out

flags are just focal points to ensure that the battle has some rhyme and reason

in terms of gameplay flags are important in particular circumstances
1) you want to cap them out
2) you want to prevent them capping you out

if neither applies at the time then taking the best ground and killing as much as possible is the strategy to go for

but if either 1 or 2 starts becoming an issue again, the flags are all that matter

personally I like a very strong defence, 1-2 squad strength and the rest of the team to kill as much as possible, not necessarily going near a flag unless the enemy are there.

ambushing supply lines on maps like kozelsk is another example of how killing is just as or more important than flags.

But at the end of the day, its a fluctuating balance between flags and kills.

And when the noobs are taking screenshots of their LEET 23-2 score, they still have no clue how they could have lost, even with their team yelling at them, and the other team capping flags behind them.

I laugh at noobs who think this game is BF2 Vanilla, and then I proceed to out manuever them. Many, many, MANY great stories.

Noobs, pull up a chair. dtacs, you can sit in front.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "
