Hey dur,
(a) if i install windows 7 do i have to whipe my hard drive, or will it whipe my hard drive to make room? will i lose information by installing windows 7?
(b) My motherboard needed an update, will that update stay in place when i install windows 7.
I am running xp64 and my motherboard is a p5q3 delux, and i only have one hard drive on my computer.

Is it a new install or an upgrade.
Your motherboard bios shouldn't be effected unless it loads is from your hard drive which is doubtful.

Okay, 7 is a little more ram thirsty so make sure you have at least 2 GB of ram. Most people only have one hard drive its okay.Psykogundam wrote:Hey dur,

Generally, No you do not have to wipe your hard drive. If your switching from 32/X64 or vice versa then yes but otherwise no. The windows 7 installation will upgrade your current OS.

Yes, anOS install will 99% of the time NOT effect your Bios
