The platform tool is VERY useful. It is very simple aswell. Select the tool, and place the circle atop some terrain to set the tool then right click. A red circle will indicate the desired height. . Whatever height the terrain you right clicked is, is the height you will 'progressivly' reach by left clicking the part you want platformed. Take a look for yourself, and you will see how much time I shaved by doing it this way.The_Vulcan wrote:platform tool what the ????
I am close to finishing my map, I know that tool is there, but I have never used it and have no idea what it does.
Is that something I should learn to use ?
I know I dont touch the random tool for good reason.

**HINT** type volcano into your search engine... "hoolaspam isnt it in hawaii?"
yeah and there are volcanoes all around hawaii!!! go for a walk...oh but then you might lose your computer tan...haha (my bday so i can be a little mean right?)
anyway..yeah look up some volcanoes and then try to see how they look on the exterior edges...i know hawaiian volcanoes are quite low and flat but there are several different types so just get some ideas... what could be objective wise on the volcanoe....?? hmmm....
ill think about it...(or maybe scratch the volcanoe altogether, my stupid idea)
anyway happy bday to me...

Happy birthday!!!
Yeah, Im going to slope the edges of the volcano to make it feel more real. Then after possibly make a few slopes. You would know what im talking about if you drove around the island. If I cannot do this right, I may scrap the volcano. As much as I dont want to now, its a possibility. (and what could be objective on the volcano? Please tell me Iron. Ideas, Suggestions, and anything to help me on my way is appreciated
)
Oh and my birthday is this monday.

Semi realistic feature of a Pacific island?
Hidden submarinebase beneath the volcano?
You are mean IronTaxi, must be because you're now as old as the dinosaurs. Old and grumpy!
Happy BD man!

-Update-
After redoing the edges along the volcano, I feel much more satisfied with the outcome.

What do you guys think of that suggestion? Should I pull in the coast line?BlakeJr wrote:[22:46] blakejr: Maybe you could "pull" in the coast line to make it seem as if the volcano came up from the sea... ?

Or this one..
Remove the giant plateau.. and make a nice water area.
You could maybe make a brigde at the smallest entry point - that could be a strategic point - people would blow up..
Or no brigde...atall.

Where people can sail into the island by boat...And infiltrate from there..
Maybe a small fishing village in there..
I dunno..

Wow, awsome picture. Appreciate the thought. Very intresting idea though, im just wondering how that would affect gameplay. :/ I will keep that pic handy after I release a beta. If I need to do a major altercation to the map, and people are intrested I could try that.
I have limited possibilites at this point because most of the major blank areas are filled, but I still see one major negative area on the map. The north side by volcano has nothing, but needs something. Should I just erect a base? I wanted to originally make an untouched island, but after I did the miniature island, I realised that it was going to be a base. Then the hills turned into a base, and now there is room for another. Ideas?
