Sad about PR 0.9

Let me tell what I would like to say to PR community.

I started playing PR when it was 0.809 version. It was a really cool game, I forgot about BF2 vanilla. I remember one of the most awesome map - Ejod Desert, it was really cool! Now when I play PR 0.95, I am really sad. Too many fractions, too many new complicated features, like mortars, the game became very complicated, too many new not interesting maps. If the map Muttrah City disapears, I will be very very sad about that :sad: New - is not the best. But some work was really awesome, like deployable marksman rifles! Something what I don't like in 0.95:

IDF fraction, I find it cheaty with their assault rifles; IDF tank and APCs they look like aluminium cans
HAMAS fraction, with their old american weapons like m16a1 one one side and old russian weapons like AKSU on the other side - it's not cool. Taliban and Iraqis are better. I don's see any sense of HAMAS fraction in PR.
Chechen rebels fraction has the WRONG flag! the previous flag was correct. And why do they have m60? they should have russian RPKs or PKMs.
Canadian fraction, they use american equipment, so no sense in this fraction.

I can continue the list, but I won't...and a lot of things in 0.95 make me sad. 0.8 was better, may be bugged, but better, there was more teamplay. In 0.95 everyone can play RamboStyle - it's not cool.

Too many complicated moments I find in pr 0.95.

R-DEVs, I realise, that you make the greatest work about PR, but too many new ideas are not always the best ideas. When I read "Highlights" I can see the people who say: "Great! Awesome! Cool!" and no one can say:"Guys, that is a nice new idea, but not in PR please".

Let me be that one guy, who says the last sentence.

That's for sure the first time I hear someone missing PR 0.8 :lol: . Don't you remember how the deviation was like ?

I have to disagree with every other things you mentioned. Complicated gameplay is what hooked me on PR for so long, I'd sure be bored if things were still as simple as they were in PR 0.5

The mod is centered around Reality, not what Biolog thinks is cool.. I understand your entitled to your opinion of the game but a lot of what you think is wrong is facts. Sorry they want to represent current conflicts in the game, sorry Canadians use similar equipment as the Americans but thats how it really is and also Canadian equipment looks similar but is completely different. They are no longer Chechens they are just a Militia a fictional faction they can do whatever they want with it now.

I'm not trying to be rude but its just *sigh*

I find it interesting to hear someone say that the things I like most of PR shouldn't be in it or are too complicated or too many, ah well... it's your opinion.

now about the above text: rest assured, I see no reason why muttrah city would be phased out of PR, as it's Rhino's personal pride (RPP) and it get's updated in every build.
on to the IDF, sadly enough, it uses weaponry with a modern look and a lot of polymere's that's not something PR can help, I for one find it pretty cool looking.
Hamas is the IDF's primary enemy, it was a relative small step to create them and makes more sense than having the IDF fight taliban or iraqi insurgents. about their mix of old american and russian equipment? those are simply the weapons they use in real life, and again not something PR just wanted to see. frankly this mix of weapons makes them a very interesting faction to play, a little more capable in some and little less in other areas than taliban or insurgents.
as has been stated quite some times, the militia are not chechens. they were called chechens when the russians fought them when they didn't have enough maps to let it all make sense. originally they were designed to be a band of arms dealers somewhere in eastern europe, attacked by the british. this is now the case again now that the russians have enough maps.
having the militia be random armsdealers gives more freedom for the dev's to outfit them with more different weaponry, such as the m60.
to conclude: the canadians may seem to use american equipment, but this is simply not true. the diemaco c7 and c8 handle differently and are made in canada, their vehicles are mostly european.

PR tries to create a realistic setting as much as possible, however fictional wars (CH-US/BR, RU-CAN/IDF etc.) and semi-fictional factions as the militia are accepted.
The high-learning curve may be irritating at first, but one learns soon enough, those mortars truely aren't that complicated and it adds a new level of tactical support to the game.
it seems to me that you're not especially fond of assymettrical warfare either, know that you're always welcome here, but you may ask yourself if the whole idea of PR fits to your expectations to it and that it's the mod for you.

First of all, like all the previous guys said; it's not about being/looking cool on PR, it's about reality.
The devs can't do anything about the fact that Canadians use their own copies of the M16,etc.. Though, I like the Diemaco's much more than the M16, they just look more awesome and smooth.

About the Chechens; they're not Chechens, atleast not anymore. This has been 'changed' to give the faction more flexibility and things like that. Though, I think do have American weapons. Chechens are being funded by multiple Arabian states, Turkey (not that much), multiple and in some point by USA but not that directly. So yeah..

Every faction has it's own + and -, Israeli have very nice and accurate AR's but have a bit weaker armour than the other factions.
Hamas does use Russian, American and even Israeli weapons. So no point of saying it's not cool and I don't understand what your problem is about it =I

Problem with mortars? You're doing it wrong, not the problem of the DEVs if you can't use them but 1000 other players can.

I have to agree with you that 0.8 was more fun than 0.95 but that's only because of the low deviation where you could destroy a tank with the attack huey!
Now the game is more realistic and requires a bit more skills to play it!
I miss some old maps like EJOD desert when I was gunning a tank and seeing a TOW humvee I was pissing in my pants and go nuts telling the gunner to fall back and stuff.. But that map doesn't fit PR 0.95 gameplay so they got it removed.

Chechens are no longer Chechens, Now they are Militia.
HAMAS uses Russian AKs along with guns taken from fallen Israeli soldiers.
Also R-Devs have a lot of Military advisors who know better than all of us.
So I keep my mouth shut so that I don't give wrong information :)

i really wish some people would remember when the militia was changed to the chechens. All they did was reverse the change to open up options

To me OP is a russian guy that want to see his russian weapons again.

He wants chechens cause its russian enemies
He wants more Tali/Ins map cause they have russians weapons
He wants PKM and not M60
He doesn't love the mix of americans weapons with russian in Hamas cause he doesn't like americans weapons

One more reason that he doesn't love american's weapons is that he doesn't love to see Canadians with M16ish weapons.

I love how hes calling Militia chechans when in .8 they were still Militia, they wernt changed to Chechans until .86 when the Russians were introduced.

i feel your pain biolog.. PR was much better back in 0.8 days.. when pr 0.9 came out i quit for 6 months because i just couldnt take that many changes coming at once.. yes old maps bring memories and they are missed, think about those who played this since begining of this mod. but what can we do about it? nothing.. this is a mod, it develops time to time.

i can almost guarantee if you guys go and play 0.8, you will be disapointed now you have played 0.95. the reason you say you prefer 0.8 is because you have strong memories of how good it was and you have forgetten about the bad things in the game

if you go and play it now you will be satisfied with it for about an hour. then realise how much PR has progressed

I gotta agree on this one, please please please. Stop making this game so freaking arcade, make more teamwork oriented, team dependent and teamplay effective...

I remember reason i started playing this game... The reality feeling made me drool every time i thought of this game, wishing and hoping get back home as fast as i can just to have atleast 1 round in PR. I remember the feeling of being part of something, feeling that you're nothing without a team member next to you or he's nothing without you... I remember the huge respect of how many people were enjoying this game not because it was cool or shiny, because there were mature, experienced and knowladgeable players... Not to mention that this game attracted freaking ex military personal from around the world, that is huge man...

Nowadays, too many kids, too much imature play, 80% of all servers ingame has no teamplay quality, 45% of active servers not even using mumble, too many lonewolf with no purpose or objective, or even goal for teams sake, People join, get in the game, pick a rifle, go to a place, find someone and shoot him...

Teamplay in this game is not gone, it's just lost.

Alot of respect for this game has been lost since it became more and more arcadish... People don't use cover, supprestion, fire manuever or anything that was implied from reality, is in the game.

The higher it goes more Arcade the more aggresive and cocky players gets, They run into things, rushing, without thinking one step back. Example: Use to be in PR if you hear a shot not far from you, you report directly, get confirmation, get an order, get backup, execute the order.

Now, player hears a shot, he runs straight into that contact, even if reporting, the players mind in this game becomes like COD or MoH gamers, Pray and Spray, Rush etc...

Im just saying I really miss those very highly respected versions of the game...

If you ask me, most hardcore and loyal, patriotic gamers in this community wouldn't even care or notice if PR moved 2 or 3 steps back in versions.

Personal opinion, this game went from Awesome and cool game, to just an average game in my box...

And I might just add a big thank you to PRTA server/and especially the community for keeping a high standard of teamplay and teamwork. NwA is also very teamwork oriented and atleast encourages people to join mumble. Thank you for being as a reminder that I can actually come to PR now or then just to play for the sake of the team, not myself or get some frags/kills.

Love this game for 3 reasons - Teamplay, Teamwork and those 2 things I mentioned.

More arcadish? I have only seen PR go one way and that is putting teamplay and teamwork first, what sort of changes is arcadish? Because I played in 0.6 and the difference is huge, we had lazer bullets sprinting forever small maps rally point hunting and son on. On the other hand I have a harder time finding a good squad now a days. Not that I search rally good.
