I agree, even if they would give out the code they have now it would be great.
I love the server, just cant stand the ping!!

I think the Ping is because you are probably in the US and Sisu is in Europe... but its not so bad and I'm in S. America at the moment.
There are still some bugs that I spose the PR admins want ironed out. But they are also being cautious because introducing 128 player servers is going to change the game and they want to insure that it won't hurt the community in any way. At least thats what I think... I just wish they were a little more transparent, we are all left in the dark : /

I think that's what he means, same reason as me, I want to play on servers in US so I can have ping under 100 (also TG community is just plain more awesome)sr.bambino wrote:I think the Ping is because you are probably in the US : /

And more pll mean more chance of find pll who pass on your ied XD.

Re: When will 128 Source Code go public?
This is a question thats important, as we do need to test the code with multiple server setups, and communities need to see if they have the required hardware to run this kind of player setup.
However the rest of the mod has to catch up, there are various client and server side optimisations that would help this effort, so releasing half arsed wouldn't be a good idea.
Soppa and tema are the lads handling the 128 server code, and I'm sure when they are comfortable and the team are comfortable the rest of the mod is ready then the 128 code will become completely public.
The issue of a North American test has been brought up in the private team section, we'll see what happens.

Whatever flaws sisu has, any 128 server will have the same. Even someplace like TG. That said, I would LOVE for 128 to become more mainstream, as long as it was stable.

Re: When will 128 Source Code go public?
128 is so flawed and out of the proportions that PR was designed for, that it will have to have a HUGE overhaul of everything in order for it to work properly.
If you scaled EVERYTHING in PR to work with 128 players, you would have to adjust SO much shit.
View distance, limited kits, vehicles, 128 player maps (since all of them are 64), OPTIMIZATION SOO MUCH OPTIMIZATION ;___;
Also, server costs go up because of more slots, plus less servers will be available. If all servers go to 128, then amount of populated servers is essentially halved.

I wouldnt mind if it would be just the sisu server atm. Lots of good players converge there and its almost never all the way full.

Re: When will 128 Source Code go public?
For me one very important thing that 128 needs is more squads, at the moment you're obliged to have too many guys in one sqaud, armour sharing with infantry, large infantry squads that it's rare to see all working together, CAS with trans and a few infantry guys hanging out.
This must be hard to do but IMO it would make teamwork alot easier to achieve.

Re: When will 128 Source Code go public?
Yeh Soppa is working on the 9 squads restriction and IMO that would be a significant step towards the release of the 128 code. And one thing to mention, which is my personal deadline, is the new release of Mumble, as the version we currently have has a lot of flaws and bugs but such a 3rd party program is required to play with this many players.

Re: When will 128 Source Code go public?
They really aren't 64, that's just a number, every single map I can remember was far more playable with 128 players than 64. The only issue I can remember was the problem with air taxi availability (Iron Eagle for example).Dev1200 wrote:View distance, limited kits, vehicles, 128 player maps (since all of them are 64), OPTIMIZATION SOO MUCH OPTIMIZATION ;___;
Not a big deal since there are a lot of servers which are not ever populated (prolly 90% of all servers).Dev1200 wrote:Also, server costs go up because of more slots, plus less servers will be available.
I doubt that, as 128 player code will attract a lot of people to pr.Dev1200 wrote:If all servers go to 128, then amount of populated servers is essentially halved.

HOG has my vote to be the american ping test community, always some admins on and consistent numbers.

Re: When will 128 Source Code go public?
Guys, do we have to turn this thread in another "this community sux/this one is great"-thread?
Everything was said now, as usual the dev team wont tell any release dates.
