I very much doubt its possible to have it so long periods of sliding = getting hurt. Why I didn't put it as an option on the poll.

That's why I'd say just slow it down to represent stopping more often - and as a neat side effect, normal climbing will also be slowed down, because frankly, it's just too fast atm.

Rocket science out of ladder climbing/sliding is this becoming. Says Yoda.
If there would be an option to manually control the speed, wich i believe its not possible in this engine, it would be better. Now you cant stop anyway. Once you boost, you go down. Ideally it should bestopping every few meters, but if you fail to stop while speed is relatively low, you fall to your death.

Also, No! = Snipernubs...

This.

Decrease the sliding speed, if something needs to be done. Also the climb speed on ropes should be addressed as well.

What comes to getting down from high places, a certain exploit is a far bigger issue than ladders. I think it has been brought to the DEVs' attention so I won't go into further detail..

slightly off topic:

just leave it -_- .... it would cause more problems than we would be solving . . . . the ladder is a glitchy part of the game ive read a bunch of posts before about it . .. . :O leave the all mighty ladder slide alone lol

Personally I would just find it kind of annoying not to have seeing as it has no real impact on gameplay whatsoever.

Either way, IRL if you really wanted to you could, but it will give you nasty burns.

i love how sliding down a ladder in full combat gear is unrealistic while climbing a rope in full combat gear is considered realistic....lmao

oh...its a metaphor for other shit......lol....love it

i vote remove sliding down the ladder, though to be honest i dont really care...it doesnt get abused as much as the rope does as far as reality is concerned. and needless to say i have wanted the removal of the rope since it was introduced.

Being able to climb up the rope from a grappling hook is there to represent a combat ladder as best we can. If we could do it well, we would have a combat ladder ingame rather than a rope :p

a bit off topic.

Cant you make it so the rope is invisible and the soldier does some sort of climbing animation? the invisible rope should follow the contours of the wall. not perfectly mind you, but it would look nicer and you'd be able to slow down the assent. thats if it works, of course.

I think this would look stupid.
Think the actual system is the best we can have for either ladders and ropes.

I think pool is jacked..it should have simple yes or no this way in the end we will have NO as an result.
Personally I don't mind either way, but I think it is unreal to slide down industrial ladder in full speed and with 30+ kg on you, and stay in condition to run away. With decreased speed maybe, this way its lethal.

-Not vertical, which makes a big difference.

-No weigh

-Probably has been on a ladder his whole life.

-And WAY slower than it happens in PR

-Still not as high as many of the ladders in PR

i got curious to see what the tallest ladder slide was .... and .. .. there isnt a record set in the guinness book of world records.
simply searched ladder under the record search and ... nothing about a ladder slide showed up :O

Search - Guinness World Records

lol okay so thinking realism actually ... the Ladder going up the sides of the Arabic Hotels ... how tall is that ACTUALLY and would it be possible to keep the speed as constant as it is with out speeding up and slipping to your most certain Death . .. yes i think it could be changed but i am STILL having a bit of mixed feelings :l

How is ladder sliding unrealistic?. I have done it many times.

Down vertical ladders and diagonal. I have even slid down a 50ft Girder when being chased through a derilict building no burns no injuries. That was a good 15 years ago, doubt I could do it now lol.
But it is most definitely do-able.

Also PR, while being based on reality, is just a game. Sometimes I think ppl want it so realistic it wouldn't be fun any more.

My 2 cents.

PR soldiers should not be better than real soldiers. It does not matter if someone can sprint or throw grenade for longer distances than ordinary men. Most of the people can't slide ladder so why PR soldiers should?

Well I dunno about what the US dose but if they did things differently, I'm sure our MAs would have pointed it out by now but I know watching a lot of British documenatries how common a combat ladder is especially in Afghanistan.
