Well I think its safe to say everyone eagerly awaits the other maps you've got in store.

And I mean a totally new map, a continuation of sorts of the Muttrah campaign. I saw a picture awhile ago of how Taxi connected Fools, Dragonfly and Mestia via road which gave me the idea. But fighting through that park? Siddown Metro..

hehe, except for that series magnetic north seemed to change a bit between some of the maps and somehow the USMC managed to beat the British to AoM after the Brits captured Dragonfly without any USMC help, and its just up the hill :p

You could add a different faction to the alt layer to mix things up a bit.

na but really there isn't much more I can do with that without making the map a 4km map or w/e which would screw up pretty much all the city as it needs the scale 2 terrain in order for things like the sea walls to work etc, just wouldn't work with scale 4 terrain.

I'm not going to go into details on the ideas I've got for Muttrah as chances are I will never get round to doing what I would like to do for Muttrah and if I do, not for a long time yet so really don't want to get anyones hopes up :p

Cheers :)

Well needless to say my hopes are up and you have failed my friend...you have failed...

Forget all the other important things your doing! Muttrah is your Baby and it needs a new diaper!

Lol jk, maybe don't forget to replace middle entrance with the "gardens" from the real city.

And as far as "I get shot in the roadway", don't be in the Roadway.

Is it possible to do 3km? It could be cool to have a post USMC/MEC era and have the US ARMY vs Insurgency. They saved the city but the bad guys moved in and have terrorized the NATO forces and then U.S. Army has set up a base to the north! Boom 1,000,000,000 more hours of muttrah fun.

But after you look at the map you start to think sure it would be great if East/West Road went somewhere maybe a new city area and Construction finally was done. Then you look and see that if it were anything more than 2km it would distract from the city itself and we would soon all be mountains running hat kits and wishing the A10 would be faster about reloading.

Muttrah is just as fun as it was the first time I played it. Definitely my favorite map.

What I dislike about Muttrah is how it's always the same, every round the exact same thing, it's just a short line of city with always the same fighting places. I don't get how people like to play this over and over and over.

It's a well made map, not saying it isn't, just doesn't have good replay value to me.

I must agree Muttrah is overplayed at the expence of other maps of similar quality. I think when I first started to play I HATED Muttrah just because PR is a steep learning curve, and most everone else knew the map, the places to hide, etc, so it became very repative (run down street, get sniped, run down other street, get sniped, get in APC, get LATed). But now that I'm up to speed I quite enjoy a round on Muttrah more than any of the other city maps. I just wish it wasn't played as much.

Well, If you do get back to mapping, my wishlist would be for Istanbul to get the Muttrah treatment :P (4km, with water on both sides, nice hills, old fortifications, Mec Vs. Rus, it has the works :P )

It's a good map, though I find it kind of funny that as much as PR tries to distance itself from vBF2, it somehow also managed to end up with a USMC vs. MEC urban map as its most popular by far. At least there's no Infantry Only(ie, grenade spam) layer.

Im always happy to see muttrah, because I never play on the 24/7 server so it isnt too common.

I cant think of any PR map I dont like.

Eh... I don't really care for Muttrah much.

It's very annoying if you play it like 4 times in a row! :P

The only time I really have ton's of fun is when SISU host's a 128 player server on Muttrah. It's intense and almost deadly to just walk on any pavement.

I will be posting some tips&tricks' for this map SOON.

There could be an event, where you basically take Muttrah, destroy it (add fire, darker sky, lower VD, smoke everywhere) and add destroyed cars and craters all over the place, and then make it USMC vs Insurgents. Call it Back to Muttrah.

Yes... Not sure about the whole "destroy it and leave ruins instead" idea. There's really no statics for this and it would take alot of time to replace all the statics...
Though a simple change like a dense fog and low VD would completely change the feel and gameplay of the map.. I would love to see that

No... Just no... Muttrah could never work as an insurgency map IMO

muttrah is overplayed because we have a 24/7 server for it, and the g3 is awesome its just that the mp5 is underplayed, maybe they can add the mp5 to more kits like HAT, 2nd officer, or even anti aircraft?
Lets face it, g3 is for distance, without a scope or even red dot its pointless.

Even if it is fun to use, the MP5 is the weakest gun in the game, bar pistols and maybe the Skorpion - it's not a good idea balance-wise to give it to more classes. A G3KA4 or HK33, though...

Back on topic - it's a really well-made map with a unique concept, and I love it for that, but the extremely defensible T-buildings and relative lack of space to play in (both factors that lead to somewhat repetitive gameplay) means I prefer it in small doses.

Oh, and what about an MEC-counterattack alternative version?

I think people like it despite how much it is played because of something that use to happen a lot in Counter-Strike and True Combat: Elite. You know how when the average CS player plays dust, iceworld or assault, they usually have a sort of drill, refined through hundreds of rounds on those maps, so they know how close the opposing team can get in a certain amount of time which often dictates when they throw grenades or which doors they expect enemies to come through.

You can see it on Muttrah in the way both MEC and USMC players will rush the West City T-shapes or how the triangle is almost guaranteed to house a FOB, the hills are a favorite spot for HATs and snipers, not to mention the Cobra's favorite camping spot. And this isn't necessarily bad, sometimes when Muttrah comes up, I try to perfect my own drill for the map which involves a specific squad layout and whatnot.

In a way, it compensates for the lack of intentional coordination because everybody knows what works and what doesn't (well mostly, anyway), as opposed to bigger, sandbox style maps like Iron Eagle, Quingling or Yamalia which are rarely played with the same layout in a short interval of time, are much less predictable and are thus a lot more demanding on the whole "talk to the other squad leaders" capacity of the team.

It's like Kashan except it doesn't put nearly as much pressure on the team to make a proper combined arms effort.
