[Model] Aircraft Carrier [WIP]

Post by CTRifle »

Hey Guys! I was looking into BF2 models and of course, as well all have seen, that there isnt another carrier D: so I decided to make one. Its still a WIP and I have ALOT to do but here it is so far. Any critiques are welcomed! And anyone who knows how to use the program as well would be nice. Also if anyone has any little objects such as antenna's, rails, or something if you will let me use it, much appreciated.

Based off of the USS Kitty Hawk but we can make it look like another country if we want, mine wont be exact. I hope to get it good enough to use but we will see :)

Do you have prior experience with making statics for BF2? If not, it'd be better to start out with something smaller (much smaller in this case :p ) to gather some experience before starting on a project of this size.

but really devs? if someone is making a new aircraft model and it's not 100% perfect it's still better than nothing?

Really depends on the quality of the object and how many issues it has if we can use it. I don't think there is one single thing in PR that I would call 100% perfect and that includes my own work.

There's a tone to be done, but doing it takes serious time and energy.

I've done quite a lot for PR:F thou here and there :)

Pretty sure Adriaan was referencing the fact that making a large and complex model as your first project will kick your ***.
See: My 7000 tri plane which has taken me ~6 months and still isn't textured.

I can give you a minimal amount of technical advice regarding the obselete *** BF2 Engine. You're not going to be able to include the vast majority of the details, and there'll be a lot of flat space where you're cutting down on tris. So when you are building it look at it critically and ask "What will adding these tris add to the model."
Stuff where people won't walk, or won't walk often, isn't as important, same where they're looking.

Yea, im thinking the same thing because there is things I can add but then again I think ill make it kinda plain to not take up alot of tris. I dont want it to be to complex

Plus there's the texture unwrapping and stuff which is really a pain.
That's why it's probably smarter to start with something smaller and work your way up.
