[R-DEV]AncientMan wrote: Also another thing in the OP, about the donations being reduced. There's reasons behind that, but not because we need less money, infact we need more. Perhaps it's because we're too proud to come out and say "Donate Donate Donate!!!", but seriously, money helps. People say things like Kickstarter, no, we're not going to do that for PR:BF2 (we're not kick starting anything?), but if you've got some spare change, even if you've donated before, please donate again, it helps... Where does it go to? Servers and the ever increasing costs of bandwidth for the website/forums/stuff. Those things aren't free, money has to come from somewhere. Hey, even at the moment, I alone am paying for the PR Mumble server out of my own pocket (I don't get the donations :( ), and I'm a poor Uni student (thanks to all those people using up bandwidth playing music!)... It's not exactly pocket change...
When it comes to money, I always want to know where it is going.

I am [R4C]'s financial officer. Not to much to worry about for ourselves, as we got plenty of money on hand, donations per month, and an extremely low cost/month.

One of my jobs is to make all that information as public as possible - I release monthly and weekly updates regarding our financial burden, but I also personally reply to anyone who sent a donation - which, again, isn't much.

One thing I would love to see regarding PR - financially clarity. Yes, I know my money, if I donate, will be going to servers and the website, etc., but I would personally love to see a monthly update regarding all donations brought in vs. cost, and the justification for each cost.

TBH, I am skeptical if I can not see this financial data (if it exists somewhere, please point out my ignorance) when I am giving my money away. And thus, one of the reasons I haven't donated to PR.

What are the chance of a financial report being made public? If you need hands doing the heavy lifting, you found yourself a volunteer...

I think that's a good point.
If you released weekly / monthly status-quo-reports on how developing goes on (some screenshots, text, maybe a video) you would make people curious and stay in touch with the mod.

Without you saying anything except "It's done when it's done" people will turn their backs on you sooner or later. But if you show off your WIP in this form, people stay curious, they check the infos regularly and they spread the infos. (viral marketing ftw)

I know you already do so with the PR-Dev Blogs, but if you'd put them on the front pages, summarize the existing ones, make a features list etc.. .. would help for sure, and it's not a great effort and would reduce "hey devs, when's the new version released?"-topics.

This guy.

Indeed if the devs were more open with the community that would help a great deal. Even if that meant getting more contributors on the team. Look at other devs who are open with their communities, goes a long way when we know what's going on & how thing's are progressing. It's like the news, you aren't selling a story, you're selling people entertainment.

If the DEV's don't make promises about content in the form of pictures and such, no one will be (wrongfully) disappointed with their work as I am sure they are experimenting with things that will not necessarily be added to the final product.

But they have already done a proof of concept with AAS. Does anyone know where that is?

Yeah, we're not open to the community at all, are we? Heck, even if we spam you with updates, we'll still get the "when is it going to be released"-threads just as we are getting it now.

Expect news soon, don't worry.

We are going to release tons of media if we are happy with the product.
But as AD says we just don't want to post some WIP stuff as it might give you a wrong impression and some would be wrongly disappointed.

And you can't say there were no DEV Blogs lately, we are still teasing from time to time.
