Reasons I unistalled

Post by nicoX »

Haven't played PR for half a year almost. More or less I no longer feel the excitement to play it.

There are some main reasons for that.

  • It's getting old graphically, even though there isn't any other substitute for PR in ways of gameplay, I rather not play PR nor any other new game.
  • The dev work have been based on wrong priorities from how I see it for a long time now. We often heard it will be done when it's done, just to see several additions and tweaks that never got in game instead for the devs to work on PR Vietnam who only ran for one week on the servers but took two years to develop, and now Falklands, but we are still driving around the same Humvees and shooting the same rifles that could have gotten accessories modifications, and seeing the same maps that could be worked and worked on to perfection, to make them look more of a eye-candy.
  • Gameplay itself haven't changed much over the time.
  • But the main reason is, since the mod has grown so much and been put to a realistic end point, which is the best thing about the development of the mod, 64 servers are not enough anymore. With all the organization and cooperation of the playerbase this has led to squads ending up in 6 vs 6 scenarios. Even to get to this scenarios takes a long time, but these firefights end to quickly and you have to start from scratch again. This makes you wanna go nuts. After all we finally got 100+ servers which I don't know why we never see. For this game to be playable we need those scenarios when 2-3 squads of 10-15 men vs 10-15 battle each other, and this can only happen if there are 64+ players on a map. It's already to late to start with this now, I think to many people have already left and there is nothing that will make them come back.
Rant from an underdog.

Good. This isnt some fashion statement where style changes once a month. PR has a certain game play style and thats what brings people in. I play PR for the game play. I dont want it to be PR this month and CoD the next. I like my games to stay consistent from year to year.

As for 128 server. Its all a matter of opinion, i like 64 but wouldnt mind more people, around 80-90 players would be a good amount for me. In my opinion anything more than that becomes a cluster fuck where you have a 12 man squad but 6 are with the SL and the 6 others are respawning somewhere else.

I still think it's incredibly obstructed to just cut it down to 100, even for events. I mean public play with 100 players should be just fine but Karez, Normandy and the Vietnam event have shown how epic 200 (or maybe even more) players can be.

It still comes down to each individual though. I know a lot of people are super hyped for 128, but personally I think it's nothing but a huge cluster-fuck and I'm still yet to be surprised of how "fucking awesome" it is.

Mortars added, functional grenade launcher sights, suppression effects, SPG's, tandem RPG's. And this is only off the top of my head. Think patch wise, not time wise. Most of these effect the game quite a bit. At least for insurgency.

Yep you're right, nothing changing here! Hope to see you back for 1.0.

I uninstalled PR ones... But installed it back again when I was done formating and reinstalling my system lol!

On-topic: I've felt that alot have changed, even in the short period of time I've been playing, and can't wait till 1.0 comes out.
I just hope that the patch will bring back some of the playerbase who have left so we can have big and awesome firefights in 100+ servers.

I haven't experienced anything bad with 128 servers. If you all have, those things will settle down once players get used to them. It's a new thing thang.

Do we really need to know you uninstalled?
Do you want us to come to your rescue and tell you how everything is going to be alright?

Even if you are 100% right, its pointless to post this with 1.0 nearly released.

Why not wait try 1.0, then post with all the other "I quit" threads if you still feel the same?

just seems like attention grabbing.

I can understand some of OP's frustration, namely with the dev team's focus on expansions such as PR:Falklands, which just seems like a diversion. In my opinion, mini-mods like PR:Falklands represent expenditures of time and effort that could be better spent improving the main game.

EDIT: With that said, I have no issue with the game as a whole, and I will continue to contentedly play and appreciate the awesome mod that the devs have created for us for free. Can't wait for 1.0 either hoylshit

I personally wouldn't agree with that statement, if anything I've been working on more core stuff for v1.0's release because of PR:F than I otherwise would have been. As for the other devs, tbh most of the work done for PR:F is also going towards the rest of the PR v1 release, other than things like the Argentinian player textures etc. Overall a lot of fixes and improvements have been made towards v1.0 because of PR:F that otherwise wouldn't have probably happened because I would have been too focused on the mapping side of the mod, or more likely burnt out and not working on anything related to PR.

It should also be mentioned that PR:F is somewhat of a test bed for a few concepts for future PR development and offers something very new and unique to anyone who has tried the beta for any length of time I'm sure they would agree with me on this.

The biggest failure PR:V had was mainly down to its updater which screwed things up for everyone and as such, servers stopped running it due to players not having the right version to play on their servers. It also didn't have anything significantly different gameplay wise other than CQB combat with iron sights which while awesome, wasn't enough to make players want to resolve the problems the updater brought up. PR:F wont have the problems from the updater, and IMO, has enough gameplay differences to keep players interested, as it offers many things you just can't get in normal PR right now.

While I will agree with you it has been some what of a distraction (as I meant it to be for myself as I needed something new to work on as I was going insane working on the same thing for months), it has also been very beneficial to the main PR v1.0 release too.

I see.
Well, if the work put into PR:F goes into the main 1.0 release, then maybe it's not all that bad.

Gotta agree here.

What do you want us to do? Try to convince you to play something you got tired of?
