Can't join server until 2nd attempt

That's not the issue!!

The problem is joining a server, at least the first time it takes two tries to join a.server. It's not about getting kicked from a server.

Isn't it odd though that this problem started occuring at the SAME time as the PB update? It was never a problem until then.

I was having a problem getting random disconnects from a server. Someone suggested updatin PB. Then just after I did that I now can't join (get the same connection to server lost) message on the first try.

It is quite obvious that the problem was created when I updated punkbuster.

Note #4: Please delete the PB folder from the game installation, then run PBSetup and let it check for updates. Make sure you don't run PBSetup from inside the PB folder.

Note #10: Please start pbsvc.exe and run through the uninstall process. After that, run it again and run through the install process. Make sure it uninstalls/installs correctly. Reboot the computer and then try playing again. Vista (and above) users need to start it explicitly with admin rights.

Please make sure you allow the service files in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls. You will need to allow/unblock the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32" folder (or "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" on 64bit systems). In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list. After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked. Then try playing on a PB enabled server, in case of a kick, check if PnkBstrB was created and unblock it too.

Note #12: You will need to take this directly to EA, as this does not appear to be a PunkBuster issue.

Note #13: This problem happened IMMEDIATELY after updating punkbuster. Other people have reported the same instance.

To test that it is punkbuster related can you send me an older punkbuster version to install to see if I still have the problem after downgrading?

Note #14: Please navigate to C:\Windows\system32\LogFiles\Punkbuster. You will find some logfiles in this folder. Open them and paste the last few lines of each into a new note.

EA has not had an update to this game in 3 years.
This is some sort of Punkbuster problem.

At least they're responding . But contacting EA? And then what? They're not going to do a darn thing about it. The only thing that gets 'regular' updates is Punkbuster.

Thanks for your help, pretty sure it helped that there were 2 guys reporting the same.

Reproducing isn't that simple.
If you do a fresh installation it won't happen. It's only after you update PB manually using pbsetup.

and sometimes been kicked from server and there is wall of text in reason:
you have been kicked from server with reason:bad language,team killing,not joining squad.....etc.

No, I clicked my ticket to check the status of it and found that evenbalance closed it, probably due to inactivity. I reopened one yesterday to check status and have not heard back yet.

I msg'd BloodyDeed yesterday and he said that he had no updates either.

It happens under XP too. BF2 is king of bugs and oddities .
