Night Vision

Post by Psycho_Sam »

Are any maps going to be set at dusk or night? If so have any night vision goggles been made for say special forces or night vision for vehicles?

Well the thought is this, since BF2 has dynamic lighting effects, dawn, dusk, and nighttime maps are all theoretically possible. And of course with barrel mounted flashlights 8) , night vision would also come along for the ride  (ideally speaking).

In the Battle of Foy map in Forgotten Hope there is snow falling from the sky, not alot but it deffinitly makes the map very cool as far as scenery goes. is that a goal for PR to make it rain or snow (if say, the war in PR is expanded to north korea 8) )?

dont know how many have even played the Forgotten Hope mod if you havnt its great for realism and is probably the best thing to happen to the original battlefield, there will be a forgotten hope 2 :D so ill go between m1 and m16 once FH2 and PR come out.

Weather effects have been discussed, code-wise they aren't friendly on networks, as massive multiplayer online games aren't meant to have the refined details one would find in say a Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell game. Hence the scarcity of snow flakes in FH. Although we will do our best to include some sort of natural weather effects into maps (since China has every known enviornment on earth) we will definatley look at our options, by taking into account the limitations of the engine both client and server-side.

In AA there are maps with either snow or wind. And they just appear in your field of view and are not bound to a specific location on the map or so. Just like having a see trough layer.

it would. so would weather. but i'd give up on both if they would cause too much lag. focus on other elements of realism. fix the damage etc. and maybe in a later version add night maps etc.
