Sure its annoying to download a map pack, but to be honest, people even pay for DLC in games like BF3. And here we get it for free and no one wants it?
Aye, i wasn't trying to say that it's PR's fault my connection is a load of bull, but my main point was that for those that do have poor connections for downloads, it makes the pain and trouble of actually downloading the file worthless because it only gets played for a week at most! Hell, even if you do have a good connection, i'd imagine you still feel cheated that you actually downloaded it with the intent of supporting it, and then you sit back and think 'why did i even do it in the first place? it's just dead data to me!'
But i also agree that it should be widely included by the "main" servers that they run the mini-mods so as to help develop them.
I have a suggestion for this, and i'm not sure if i should create a new topic in the suggestion thread or just get a discussion going here, but here goes:
Because it has been said somewhere that PR1.0 will not include the minimods such as vietnam, falklands and normandy (don't ask me where i saw this, i can't remember), perhaps it would be of benefit to the community and community modders that the management create 2 different server licenses, or amend the original one to include the use of minimods.
It could be as simple a thing as just having one night a week where the map rotation must include 2 mini-mod maps. When these days and maps are played is entirely up to the server admins, but seeing as they are semi-official PR add-ons, and the server license is granted by the PR management, it could be a clausal stipulation in the new server contracts?
Or it could even be a stipulation for the most widely populated mods to get the word out about these mini-mods. I'm thinking that if (for example), the most populated servers such as CIA, NwA, PRTA etc have tailored clauses that require them to have certain times or have a minimum use of mini-mod content in order to keep their existing license for the main PR mod. They don't have to be at the same time, for example, PRTA and NwA (just the two servers i mainly play on) could have their mini-mod dedicated map times separately, so if players don't have/want to play the mini mods, they just go to a different server, so they still have a choice and those that do want to play the mini-mods are less restricted by full servers with players that just want to arse around.
Just spitballing a couple of ideas, but i think that it could be an executive decision by the PR management that means these mini-mods gain the recognition and added development that they deserve. And if this is more of a suggestion than a discussion opener, PM me and i'll start a new topic in the suggestions thread
